I guess the star beside your user name would be your reputation with indicated number from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest you can get. Cheers.

You can see it on the star just before your name. If you've just started posting in mylot there won't be a star yet. If you look at some of the older members names, there will be stars with different colors depending on their reputation. I got mine when my participation reached 100.

I guess that the best explanation of User Rating and MyLot Reputation is the one given in the FAQs: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx . You can only see your MyLot reputation when your User Rating (the number by your name in brackets) is 100 or over. Although there are 10 stars (with 10 being the highest/best) the rating is actually a percentage. You can see the actual percentage if you hover your mouse over the star. The Reputation is entirely user-driven and represents how much other users respect and rate your participation. There are built in checks to guard against abnormal or malicious negative ratings. Being over concerned about one's user rating is a trap that some MyLotters fall into. The Discussion Rating System itself, we are told, is factored into the earnings algorithm but there is no evidence that your Reputation affects your earnings overall. Generally, if you have a low reputation, it is because MANY other users think that the quality of your posts is below standard but it is also noticeable that those users with a 10 star tend not to make controversial posts!

There is another place where the Discussion Rating System is used and that is in the 'Leaderboards' for each Interest. You can usually see this, when you post a discussion in a particular Interest, in small blue letters next to the poster's name. Again, only a few people pay much attention to their ranking in a particular interest! As GoAskAlice has said, mostly what it gives you is 'bragging rights'.

I'm sorry ... your ranking shows in small, light grey letters. The Interest itself is blue because it's a hyperlink.

hi,after completing 200 nuber in brackets just beside your name...based on your previous performance of postings, they will give you star with different colors..if your color is red mens you got above 85 and below 95 out of 100....this calculation is based on how effectively [quality..3-5 lines minimum] you post responses...and follow the mylot guide lines.. all the best and have a nice time.

Baluyadav, we are told that the Discussion Rating System is 'factored in' to the earnings algorithm. This is not the same as saying that your MyLot reputation affects your earnings. Overall and very generally, it would be accurate to say that people with a lower reputation tend to earn less than they otherwise might but there is a subtle difference (which I shall have to leave you to see for yourself) between the two statements. One is accurate (because that's exactly what we are told in the FAQs); the other is supposition and, I believe, inaccurate and a very common misconception.
