What impresses you most when you meet a friend for the first time?

First impression is very important in many occassions, such as business visit, business negotiation,interview,meeting new friends or the first date, ect. Sometimes you may lose the chance of further contact with a very important client for your bad first impression, or you may be isolated from a group and feel inconfident because you lack their support and recognition. Even worse, you may fail a very important dating with the lady/man you love.
Some may say that the inner beauty plays a very important role in the first impression. However. In fact people pay more attention to one's appearance and clothing than other things for the first time. I don't deny the inner beauty , but that takes time to be found out. So I think one's appearance and proper clothing and behavior are decisive factors affecting one's first impression. What's your opinions? my friends

I agree with that thought... "you only get one chance to make a first impression." Decisive factors for me, with regard to a first impression, would be whether or not the person has a well-kept appearance (I don't mean expensive clothing or anything material that way... just clean and cared for), a nice smile and a warm approach to others. That, I think, opens the door to taking the time to learn more about a person.

Yeah, a warm and friendly smile is the door to a good friendship or the further interaction. Smile is the mirror that reflects one's positive and warm inner world . So smile to the people around you , whether they are young or old, poor or rich, beautiful or ugly, just be friendly to them, then you will receive unexpected surprise. LOL

It's surprising, too, how difficult it can be for someone to have a genuine smile. I mean, life is difficult for a lot of people with the economy, job situation and more... every day life can be rough and many people don't feel like they have all that much to smile about. I think if you can manage a smile or a small greeting to others, in spite of your personal circumstances, it really does make an entirely different impression.

Yeah, if I meet a person whois always with a good mood and smile every day, that would be a surprising gift for me. As i really like people's smile and love to make friends with these guys.
I would feel happy with people who love smiling as it make the atmosphere relaxed and active.
However, actually we may encounter difficulties or troubles or pressures from life. Life is not always enjoyable. We may sometimes feel so upset or sad that we can't show our smiles to others. It doesn't matter, believing that things will go better and share your troubles with your family or friends and you will get back your smile and your family and friends' smile.

Hello, Emma, I do agree with you, their appearance, the way they dress, the way they behave, the way they talk impress me more. Yes, inner beauty takes time to found out, anyway, we can get some clue from their talking and behaviour.
Yes, first impression is very important. It may takes us great effort to make it up for leaving a bad impression to others.
