Do you usually leave your TV on?

One mistake I keep repeating is leaving my TV on as I doze off at night. Although I have the "Sleep" function, there are times I forget to activate the "Sleep" function. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night or after midnight just to turn off my TV. There are even times when my mom or dad would enter my room just to turn off my TV. Does this happen to you also?

I used to. I am trying to get better about this pan. It's part of my plan to lower my carbon footprint, one of my New Year's resolutions. It's easy to remember now that I don't have cable. I only use the TV for audiobooks, DVDs, and VHS tapes--much less likely to be left on.

Hey dolce! And a very Happy New Year to you my dear friend! Great to see that you are still here and I am hoping that you will still make time this year to be with us because I have truly missed you! As for the leaving the tv on, sometimes I do fall asleep watching tv, but my boyfriend turns it off! And then I wake up and I'm upset! I wake up so many times a night that the tv would never be on for long! I have Insomnia, so even it I do doze off, I know I will be up witin a half hour again! No need for a sleep timer!

Hi Dolce_vita, I very rarely watch tv but I am guilty of falling asleep with my reading lamp on as I quite often take a book to bed but as the TV is downstairs if on that is always switched off before I go upstairs. Huggles. Ellie :)

I think that I should also bring my TV out of my room so I won't be sleeping with the TV on. =)

Hi dolce vita: It use to happened when i was a teen but thanks to my mommy and daddy complains i stop doing that. I remember that I didn't like that they were angry with me because of that because to me this was like a stupid mistake, just as leave the room without closing the door or to let the lights on but it was necessary. Well sometimes i admit that i leave my stereo on but it's not something regular now. Thanks for asking me this question. Hope you are having a nice day. Happy New Year and Keep Mylotting. Take Care. -Alvaro.

I have never experienced that before as I would often turn off the television by the time I really do feel so sleepy. The times that I would leave it on would be when my nephews are watching. I'd be doing something else as they should or would be watching those shows that they like to watch on television. Good thing for cable channels and those child-friendly shows. Whenever I see them out roaming, I'd ask if they turned off the television, they would scamper off to turn it off. (^_^")

hi dolce. yup, same case here. this happens to me sometimes especially since it is my daughter who ends up watching the telly late at night. she can't seem to sleep without the telly on. i always do put the sleep function on, usually at 2 hours, but sometimes the telly shuts down and my daughter is still awake and she wakes me up to turn the telly back on! lol! crazy! anyway, i've explained to her that she should start sleeping earlier and not stay up late watching the telly. otherwise, i'll be taking out the telly in her room. so far, she is complying and sleeping earlier than usual.

hi dolce, I always turn the tv off when not in use. But there was one time that I got so sleepy and I forgot to turn my tv off. The funny thing is, I woke-up in the morning with my tv still rolling. As much as possible I don't want to leave it on to save at least power/electricity.

I am so used to activating the sleep function everytime I turn on the TV. When I go to bed at night, I use the TV to get to sleep. So I just put it in 15 minutes and usually I am asleep before it turns off. During the days, I also set the sleep on just a few minutes after I leave the house. This way I don't have to bother turning it off as I go out the door.

No and never I leave the TV on when going to bed. I even make sure that the plug was removed since even if the appliance is not on, there is still small/minimal amount of electricity being used. I like to save and conserve energy, thats one value I have learned from my father.

Usually that turning off the TV is my husband. Because, my husband often watched television until midnight. Usually, I've slept in advance. So, my husband turned off the television, because my husband is always the most recent, watching television.

usually not, but my parents have this bad habit to leave the tv on also when they go out, i think that is a bad habit because a television use power and we pay it, we have to save energy because it's good for the earth environment, and a television on for all the day, expecially old television, can burn and let all hte house burn. so i don't leave the television on when i go out.

Hi codris: You have made me remember that, when my mom waits for my dad's arrival at night she waits watching tv and sometimes she fell asleep while she is watching tv. For me it's a funny scene because my mom seems like a little girl at this moment trying to keep herself awake. Thanks for your answer codris. Hope you are having a nice day. Happy new Year and Keep Mylotting. Take Care. -Alvaro.

It happens with me sometimes. You know when you are watching something just lying down on couch, you go to sleep. Even sometimes you feel lazy to turn it off, we think we will do it after somethime but we go to sleep ignoring the TV sound.
