Today I found a formula via the net. If you have a boy, then the formula is: (dad + mom's height)×1.08÷2 If you have a girl, then the formula is: (dad's height×0.923 + mom's height)÷2 Let's see whether it is true

Hello Youless, I saw this formula somewhere, and i can't remember it. That's so fun, my husband is way taller than i am. so the result turn out like if we have a boy, it will at least 187cm, girl will be 166cm. I love those heights!

I wonder how accurate is the formula. I am not too tall and so is my husband (Asian Standard) but my children are both a head taller than both of us. I think food plus genetic will produce taller children in this modern age.

I think if the children's parents are from different races, usually their children will be very beautiful, healthy etc

I did this in centimetres. I got 189 cm for my boy. Some how I am not sure about that. Fathers side is short. My side is around the same hight but do have taller uncles and one set of grandparents were tall. If he is 189, he would certainly follow one set of grand parents. But going on my step son, he is the same height as us. Daughter may possibility be a shorty if the calcutions are to go by and also with my step daughter too. Calculations came in at 168. Sounds like step daughter. So that may be a good possibility. Of course this formula is only for fun and can't take it as the rule of hight. My sister and I are both taller than our mother but just shorter than our father. It may work for some but won't work for others. But it was fun doing it.

my mother once told me that a doctor told her to wait till her child was two years old, and double their heights at the age of two.. I was a little under 3 feet when I was two years old, and now as an adult, I'm a little under 6 feet, so that is pretty true. So far that's worked for all of my family members.

According to your formula, the height result seems to be short

hmmm... i wonder if these things can be derived by formula. perhaps there is a margin of error of 90%, or what statisticians call confidence levels of 90%. Cos I've seen kids who are much much taller than both parents. but i guess genetics is the main determinant of height so I'd buy this rough formula, with allowances for some standard deviation. :)

Perhaps today the nutrition is better, so the new generation is higher.

Hello youless......How are you dear...I am back in mylot after hibernating foa few months.....Well I calculated the height of both my boys as you suggested....it comes to rounf abour 5.9 feet...But actually they are both 6 footers.......The elder is 6'1"....While I am only 5'4" and my hubby is about 5'7"....So I guess this is only a rough calculation..... Any way happy new year to you dear........

I think the sports and nutrition also play the main role to have a higher height.

I'm assuming we convert our heights to inches? In that case my son will be 6.21 feet tall...which could be right! (74 inches) My daughter would be 66 inches or 5'6"...which could be right...but I think she will be a lot taller! That is a fun way to calculate it! Thanks for sharing!!
