Carrots In Spaghetti

Venezuela

Besides the pasta, sauce, and ground meat, I like putting carrots in my spaghetti. I dice them real small and then mix them into the sauce. It adds a certain sweetness to the sour taste of the tomato sauce. I also like the added crunch while you're chewing. Try it out. Its good for kids too.

Hi, nocturn98. I have never had sliced carrots in my spaghetti before. I am sure that it is very delicious! And healthy too! I made a spaghetti last month, and it never dawned on me to mix carrots into the spaghetti sauce. This is something new! I would have to try this to see if I would like it. I love carrots by itself and so does my kids too.

The only problem about adding carrots is it takes time dicing them into smaller pieces. But if you have some kitchen appliance that can do this then you're all set.

My kids would not eat spaghetti if they saw even very small chunks of carrots in the sauce. They are very picky. My 5 year old daughter more so then my son but still they are both quite difficult. I have made spaghetti before and added pureed spinach and pureed carrots to the sauce. My daughter noticed it was a slightly different color then the saucewe usually have so she refused to even try it. It was good I ate the majority of it. Tonight I made macaroni and cheese and it had diced carrots in it. It was interesting. Pretty good but I doubt I will make it again. My son ate it but as usual my daughter refused so I ate the majority of it haha.

I have never had carrots in my spaghetti. I'm italian and we have always eaten pasta on sundays and never once did my mother or grandmother put carrots in any of the sauces. But this sounds pretty good, something I will have to try.

Oh yes, we do this too! The recipe I always use for spaghetti sauce uses diced up carrots, celery and onion. When my daughter could handle the sauce, I added in grated zuchinni, mushrooms, and grated carrots. I figured if she tossed out the diced carrots, she'd still get the grated carrots in since you can't pick those out - ha ha. By the way, in my little one's ketchup, I stirred in pureed carrot and she never knew the difference (actually you can't really taste it).

my wife puts diced carrots too but together with the meat balls. she puts celery also to the meat balls. so our child can eat veggies without seeing it. i am not a carrot eater har har har, so seeing carrots on my spagetti is not a good sight for me. i think the idea of my wife hiding it on the meat balls are brilliant. in that way i can eat it without seeing it.

Hi. It sure does. Diced carrots in the tomato sauce do add texture and taste that is yummy. That's how I like it too! :)

I use carrots too on my spaghetti carbonara. I diced it up first then blanched it and mixed it with the spaghetti. I like the crunch when eating them.

Hi nocturn! We do it every time we cook spaghetti. :) I don't think it's gonna be complete without the mighty carrots. They'd have to be chopped really finely, just like what you have said.
