I had been having severe pain in my right side off and on for about three days. I had a CT Scan yesterday and found out I have a kidney stone in my right kidney as well as a urinary tract infection. They sent me home with some antibiotics and pain killers and gave me a referral to the urology clinic in four days. Since the stone is or was still in my kidney will I be having this pain until I pass the stone and how long should that take? Thank God the pain killer is helping a lot during each episode. But, here the pain is worse when it comes to pass the stone. What can you tell me about this; ie, what do I have to look forward to.

Along with drinking plenty of water, drink cranberry juice. It is a very natural cure for the UTI. Also, start taking a magnesium tablet daily. Stones from because of the lack of that particular mineral in your diet. I have bought and put my boy friend on magnesium for his stones, and it has helped him pass a bunch of them! If it is already a "stone" there isn't too much you can do except pass the darned thing. Hopefully it isn't too large, my boy friends largest stone is 7 mm, which is about the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil. Also, along with the magnesium (which is recommended to be about 450 mg) daily, make sure that you drink cranberry juice through the month, EVERY month. Doctors don't know why cranberry juice is so good for your kidneys, but it is extremely health promoting for the kidney and the kidney function.

You're still a young person! You can still get them in your 80's and 90's!! So take the magnesium anyhow. It shouldn't have grown in the space of 5 days, they take a few months to grow bigger. A 4.5 stone should be fairly easy to pass...but it is the closest to the pain of child birth a person can get. Thankfully you're doing the right thing to take care of the stones, and make sure you listen to the urologist! Let me know when it passes, Bill and I will have give a cheer.

Thank you for the info. I am already drinking cranberry juice along with lemonade and plenty of water as my urologist recommended. My stone was about 4.5mm when it was detected with a CT Scan. I don't know if it has grown any since then, about five days ago. Since this is my first stone in 62 years I don't think I will be getting too many more. Fingers crossed, lol!

I also suffered from kidney stone problem 5 years back, but now i am fully recovered from it.Kidney stone in the initial stages can be easily cured with Ayurvedic or homeopathic treatment. For me it was a small stone that was cured with ayurveidic medicine. It depend on the size of the stone. If the stone is big,it can be squeezed with ultrasonic waves with a key hole surgery with out much pain.

Thanks for your response and your help. I do not know how large the stone is yet but I am drinking plenty of water. Do you know of any other herb or liquid that will dissolve the stone?

I am going through this right now as well. I hae battled with utis for 7 years. I just got done taking medicines for one about a week ago. It didnt feel like it was totally gone even when I was done with the cipro. Right now my back is killing me and my stomach. It feels like contractions but I am definitly not pregnant. I keep feeling like vomiting. Due to the fact that I have utis so often I have an appointment with a urologist on the 25th. I'm scared :(
