A couple that live in Huntington Beach in California have adopted many boys. Their house has nine bedrooms, five bathrooms and an elevator. The boys are disabled and some are teenagers. They come from America, Russia and a few other countries. They are the Silcock family. Nanny 911 sent all three nannies there so the couple were able to have a weekend off. There are over thirty boys. What do you think of the couple? Why do you think they want to adopt the boys?

They really must be kind hearted couple to adopt so many boys and that too disabled boys. Raising thirty kids and taking care of their medical also requires lots of money and this couple seems to be generous enough to do all. Since in America all kind of social organisations are involved in adoption cases and keep regular watch, one can not think of malafide intention on part of the couple. So it must be their good nature which has made them adopt so many children

Well they are probably not financially taking care of the kids. I am sure they get nice sums monthly to help with each kid. Possibly even more than they need.

They have one little boy that has a brain injury and they give him loving care. Nobody else would have adopted him. Yes, medical costs are really high in the USA. I have a disabled son and know how many medical appointments such a child has. I imagine the couple are really kind people as you suggest. Many thanks for your superb response.

In a way Nat is also right because in India we do hv many NGOs which open private orphanges just for the sake of taking grants both from the government as well as from foreign NGOs and their spending on the orphans is very less. This way they become rich overnight. Near my city, in a village, there was one such orphanage where a sikh gentleman had built a brick building in his fields. The building consisted of 7-8 rooms and the toilet as well as kitchen was a few meters distance from the main building. My friend took me there as she wanted to adopt a child. U know that gentle man asked two of the girls who are around 10 or 11 years old to make tea for us. This saddened me as the girls were too young to be involved in household work. Later I came to know that he was getting fat financial grant from some foreign organisations and for this purpose only he did not want to part with any child.

I think they really are so charitable and generous. The children were so lucky being adopted by them.

I hope they do it for the benefit of the boys.. some people like to be kind in order to shut down their conscience.

I imagine they do it from the hearts of gold. They must have clear consciences for doing such a wonderful thing for all those disabled boys.

of course! And they show that they adopt because they truly want to give their love. Not like people who adopt just because they did not have kids and want to adopt some perfect kids.. I hope the couple takes care of themselves though, must be pretty stressful, all those boys.

Well I would say they are kind hearted, but maybe crazy also. This is a lot to put in their hands. I think 30 would be to many and they wouldn't get all the attention they need for only 2 people. Of coarse I didn't see this episode so I am trying not to judge to much. It kind of scares me though, a lot of people just do this sort of thing for the fame or the money also. Being that they are disabled they have to get SS checks. Each and every one of them. I just hope this couple had and still has good intentions in mind.

Yes, the household is crazy. The washing load is like that of a laundry service shop. I think that the couple do have some helpers. They serve three meals a day and it must be challenging serving that number of boys. If you wish to see this episode you might be able to view it on the Internet. Thanks for your excellent response.

I surfed the net and found this amazing site http://www.allourboys.com/ They seem so well organised and it looks like an organaisation more than a family set up! All eyes on them and I am sure they do not feel alone. There are people in this world who look to do unique things and these belong to that category.

Well done for finding their Internet site. They have photos of their boys. It is interesting to hear about what happens to the older boys. One of them went on to quite high level studies and he did really well. They have a supportive living center to help the boys once they are adults.

For me they are heroic in nature. At the present time, where many people are in poverty class. People like the amazing couple able to share their blessings to those not blood related members or orphans do really have a generous heart. They do follow the works of God. God made them a messenger to those who are underprivileged. These couple have shown other people the good virtues and being a believer of GOD not only in words but actions as well.

Thanks for your wonderful response. The man is in a wheelchair after he had a diving accident. It is sad that some children in the world are underprivileged. It is so very caring that the couple take in disabled boys.

Wow, over 30 kids? And special needs kids at that. That is amazing and I think too much. How can they take care of that many special needs kids? Are they multi-millionaires?

it is nice to see that there are people in the world like that still and that not everyone with large families are veying for any money that they can get (ie jon & kate or the family with 19 kids!)

Some people just love children and are good with children and want to contribute in some way. More power to them.

That is a pretty amazing story. it must be difficult to accommodate so many with only nine bedrooms. Whatever their motives, it can't be easy, and I'm sure the authorities would have stepped in if they weren't giving all the care needed. But it sounds as if the most valuable thing they give these boys is love along with the care. They obviously do want to pass their love forward.

The couple must be very rich to support large numbers of family member. I think the couple are so kind and generous. They might be lonely and do not have own children. I really respect and adore the couple.

It is true that they are an amazing couple indeed. The title of the discussion is very apt. But only because they are wealthy, they could do this. Americans are generally known for their generosity as it can be seen from the support they give to the NGOs there. Hope they continue this good work. This couple has set an example for others. I hope and wish that many others, who could really contribute to the society, take initiatives like this.

The couple is really doing divine job. They must contribute more and more to give some orphan or needy child to live up to the mark at where any normal child live. Great stuff.
