***Would You Or Did You Ever Have Plastic Surgery?***

I was watching a tv program the other night on "Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong", and I thought I was going to get sick to my stomach. Some of these poor people were really messed up and it took numerous different surgical procedures to correct the mistakes, and they still didn't look good. I guess they picked the wrong doctor in the first place, and some have died because of it. So sad. They even showed some teenagers getting this done because they didn't feel comfortable with themselves, and they were so pretty. I don't get it. And the prices!! Wow! I could live on that money for the next few years if I wanted too, lol! I'm too chicken, haha, to even think of doing something like that, although, hmmmm.....just kidding. So, did you ever have it done? What was it if you don't mind me asking? And, are you considering it now for the future? Would you let your teeny bopper get it done because she didn't feel beautiful enough?

I am not planing to. Some people with Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) have done number of plastic surgeries with no or little improvements to their face. Good look is not related to skin and bones only, it can shine from within.... HUGS

Hi Pola! I haven't seen you in a while, hope you're doing good. You're so very correct, it does shine from within and I agree. Too bad people don't think this way, not in todays age unfortunately. Everything is geared towards looking beautiful or handsome for the men, and that can be done in the simplest of ways without all these procedures. I wouldn't chance it.

I didn't get to watch that but I seen previews for it. I wouldn't ever have it done unless I needed it done (like if I was in an accident or something) but just to get cosmetic surgery to change my appearance, no....I think it is better for someone to just learn to live with and learn to like them self. I wouldn't let my teenager get it done. I would make a teenager wait until they could pay for it and be a full grown human being. Some of the plastic surgery could end up looking horrible because that teenager might not be done growing and That way it would be their decision and no one else could be blamed later for the mistake that they made a decision on.

I would have never let my kids do that, just to make them look prettier than they are? Doesn't make any sense to me at all. That's how spoiled kids are today, and Mom and Dad have all the money in the world.

Yeah, but from you said about the show, all the money in the world can't fix some of those mistakes and they end up looking like a freak show. What I wonder is what happens when they get a nose fixed and have a kid one day with 'their' nose? How do you give a kid a good self esteem when you had your own fixed and what happens when you don't have the money to get the kids' kids nose fixed? I think it is nothing but a big disappointment waiting for them later down the road.

I have thought about liposuction on the belly fat, but in the end I just don't want to spend money to get rid of something that I could get rid of myself if I'd just get off my duff and eat less and exercise more.

Well, since you've heard descriptions I won't go into it. I watched that once for about 2 minutes and turned it off, ack. Couldn't imagine how much pain there must be afterwards. Gives me the willies, haha.

Did you ever see the procedure? It makes me hurt just to think about it. I guess this stuff is pretty expensive and if you don't keep up with your exercise and diet, I would imagine it would come right back, no?

I'm much to squeamish to watch a procedure but I've heard descriptions. And yes, it would come right back if you let yourself gain weight again.

I cant see myeself doing plastic surgery unless it is corrective surger for a defect for example if I meet in an accident then I would do it to correct any deformities.I cant see myself doing cosmetic surgery to make my nose straighter of my cheekbones higher for reason that purely for phisical appearance

Me either! Ouch, haha, not for me! I'll just keep all my flaws and let the doctors keep all their knives and needles, lol! Deformities are one thing, or mental problems where it keeps you from having a normal life. Other than that, I'm out!

Hi kashmeresmycat, no I haven't and no I wouldn't. I'd rather be real than plastic and I can't understand people putting themselves through unnecessary procedures. Even when they have them done they don't last and they have to have them done again I believe. It's bad enough looking at some of those botoxed clowns.

Hello, I would never get plastic surgery. Why open yourself up for complications or people poking around your body when it does not have to happen. This society for to look young. What happen to looking old and wisdom on there face because they accomplished a lot over the years. It in the brain and how we treat others that matters in the long run. I still say 40 is 40 not new 30 and 50 is still 50 not new 40 etc... what a copped out on society to make us beleive something that is not true to authentic body self. Is your colon really 30 years old if you are forty or your liver etc...souls are what counts in my book. Thanks and have a great day Sincerely Unique16

Yeh, inside is what counts as far as I'm concerned. I can understand it for important matters but these poor people have to be suffering, and I'm sure they know they made a horrid mistake by doing this. Some people get it done and they look fine but I wouldn't have the guts to do it, nor did I ever feel I needed to, in that sense.

No I have never had it done and never will, as I believe once you have that done you are not you any more I also believe that they should not be aloud to do it to Teenagers unless there is a medical Reason, the sad Point with Teenagers having it done is that they see all these glamorous Women on TV and want to be like them, they forget to look at themselves and see that they are pretty how are they are or they look in the Mirror and because they do not see this Glamorous Singer, actress, model or whatever they think they are ugly when they are not It is so sad really

Yes it is sad Kash and I wish People would just learn to be themselves and if they have to much weight try and loose it the natural way, wear a bit of make up, don't be to skinny, no matter what blokes think, they are only worth it if they accept you for you not for the plastic surgery same the other way round women accepting Men for them not their looks or money

I agree with you. Society and the news media also have alot to do with this. If you're not pretty, you're nothing today. So wrong. This is a sign of the times and it's unfortunate these young people feel this way, when the most important thing is to have a good heart. That's when you really shine. It is very, very sad.

Unless my teenager was horrible disfigured, they would not be getting plastic surgery. They'll get older and adapt and change. If they moved out and could afford it, I couldn't stop them, but I don't think plastic surgery would be the solution. I can't imagine getting plastic surgery for myself. There isn't anything about me that I can't live with. I guess if I had had a lot of kids, and my stomach was pretty bad, I'd have a tummy tuck. I remember someone on TV talking about how after three kids, she had to get a tummy tuck because she couldn't stand it. I think it was a TV actress. She didn't believe in plastic surgery, but apparently the extra skin actually added a size to her small frame.

I've been told that a tummy tuck is plastic surgery. Since the goal is to attain a certain look, to make the appearance of the stomach better (I guess). I wish that the parents who pay for plastic surgery for their teens, would instead use that money for counseling their teen's self-esteem.
• United States
7 Jan 10
Yeh, really, a good counselor would do it! Like I said before, with the money spent on some of these, I could live for a few years on it with no problem, and eat pretty well too, haha.

6 Jan 10
Oh, I agree with you AmbiePam, for sure, if there was a serious problem, yes. But there was nothing really honestly wrong with these girls, they were very pretty, and a little exercise would have been much better. That's it. So a tummy tuck isn't considered plastic surgery? I didn't know that, duh. Geesh, still learning at my age, haha.

I've never seen that show, but I have seen segments about the surgical procedure for liposuction and it's like .......yuck! I couldn't help thinking if the people undergoing this actually SAW it being done they would change their minds real quick. I guess I'm just not vein enough to want plastic surgery...although years and years ago I thought, gee wouldn't it be nice if my earlobes matched...don't laugh but it's like I have two completely different earlobes--my left is short and puny looking while my right is kind of long and fleshy...then out of curiosity I looked up how much earlobe surgery is (YES they actually have it) It's about $2,000 for one earlobe...like HUH?
• United States
7 Jan 10
Wow!, $2000 bucks for one earlobe? Nawwww, not worth it! You could have much more fun with $2000 buckeroonies, haha. I saw your comment above about Joan Rivers, yeh, when I saw her I thought she looked hideous! They really messed that one up. My sister use to make fun of my earlobes because they're so small, but ain't no way I'm doing anything about it, lol! I never really paid that much attention to stuff, I mean, I always wished I had better hair, or prettier feet, or was taller, ya know, things like that, but no way am I goin under that knife! I don't even like needles, and I'm gonna do that? HAH, fat chance.

I don't think I would get plastic surgery. Having a procedure done would be really expensive to me. I guess its really up to the person to decide. I think a little surgery is okay, just don't overdo it like Joan Rivers.

Joan Rivers, talk about things going really wrong, good grief. I couldn't believe it when I saw her, AND, she probably had a very expensive doctor who's done millions of these. So, if it can happen to her, it can happen to anyone. No thanks, I'll pass, haha.

hi Kashmeresmycat, The idea of getting one scares me so much. But sometimes, when I watch shows like "big transformation" episodes made me so amazed and a bit jealous of people who undergone plastic surgery and turned out to have a beautiful and amazing result. So it's kind of hard to think if it is really worth doing but, if it'll be for free...Yes, maybe..I mean, why not?! hahaha! lolz... Seriously, I can't. I know myself so much and I can't do such thing unless it is really necessary. Like a transplant of certain body part because of medical related reasons. I like myself now and I like how I look, maybe I am not that pretty but, this "me" and this is how I am for a long time so be it.lolz Happy Lotting!

If that's you in your avatar, you look very pretty to me. Everyone looks at themselves and see's all kinds of things they'd like to change, but other people see them differently. With what I saw on that show though, I'll stick with my flaws because I would not want to look like that afterwards, and there is no guarantees. I shudder when I think of it..ew.

hey, an interesting topic, plastic surgery has become a phenomenon. for some women it is just like putting make up, every single day they think of changing something new in their looking. i guess it is all inside. here in Algeria the look is important for women generally but not as much as the united states, an ugly woman can get married if she wants to.. being ugly is relative some women would never be satisfied about their looking even after having plastic surgery... but what i hate most about plastic surgery is that those who undergo it would look like a plastic dolls not like human beings with real flesh for women b lifting or something like that would be necessary sometimes but touching the eyebrows or the lips would surly be a risk not worth taking

Ohhh, that reminds me of this one program I saw years ago. This girl wanted to look exactly like the doll "Barbie". She does, and she even looks all plastic, it's scary!!!! I can't imagine her going out on Halloween, people for sure must think she's wearing a costume with a mask on, haha! Ew, makes me shudder, and she reminded me of something out of a horror story. If I saw that coming towards me, I'd be running my little legs off the other way. I'm not for it or against it, just won't ever happen to me.

I would never get plastic surgery done. It is only for those not confident with themselves. Instead of getting plastic surgery they could eat more healthy foods, exercise and get rest. Then, they won't be obese (if they want gastric bypass surgery, which is technically plastic surgery) and when they get older, wrinkles won't appear as much. But, if they absolutely NEED plastic surgery they should do it. For example, if they were in a fire and their nose was burned off then yeah of course they should get a nose job because an accident happened and it might be necessary for them to have the full amount of confidence they had before the accident. But, if people get plastic surgery for silly reasons that is wrong.

so much plastic surgery is pure vanity, and I've seen a lot of celebrities that look horrible now due to it..like Joan Rivers, and even Meg Ryan has had some..they just don't look the same anymore--even Cher. I remember Joan Rivers once commented, poking fun at herself, that she's had so many surgeries that with the leftover flesh taken off, one could make another person...LOL

I agree with you! Looks like the majority of the responses wouldn't do it at all. I guess rich people think they need to spend their money somehow, and that's one of the ways. No Thanks, I'll stick with what I have, haha, which isn't much but it's all me.

i did but i am lucky, i got a right doctor. he didn't make any mistake. but......really, if i have to go through it again, even it will be free. i will say "NO WAY" painful...you can't really enjoy your face for almost a year. and you might lose a part of feeling on your face. then.....really expersive!!!

7 Jan 10
Oh, I forgot about the pain, ew. Just another reason I'd never do it, so I'll just add that to my list of NO-No's. Did you lose feeling in your face at all? What did you have done? See, you should start a discussion on this, make some money girl!

Does a tummy tuck count as plastic surgery? I guess it does. I had one nearly three years ago. Although the reason was cosmetic, the problem originated from me having an emergency CS years ago. I can understand some people having plastic surgery for problems that are almost deformities, such as badly shaped nose or whatever. But I dont go along at all with the stuff holywood stars and plenty of others have done. Apart from the impression they are creating that it is neceassary to have perfection, you are righht about pointing out the issue of things going wrong, causing terrible long term consequences.

Hello kashmeresmycat me too think that our natural therapy and remedies are enough for us to have an change in our looks, than to go for plastic surgery.Yeah plastic surgery is an innovation in field of medical but still the natural ways and techniques are too good to resist.Even myself had some of my cheeks portion burned due to some accident, half of mine face was horror.I simply kep on applying some aloevera gel on it as well as taking in some aloe vera juice daily. And within 1-2 months time my face was back again, without any horror signs.Well me too thought it was an miracle thing but really praised the natural remedies of our mother nature.Even some diseases that don't have treatment yet in our medical field, have some proper treatment in the natural ways.Hope you too would turn yourself to natural remedies.Happy mylotting.

I have never undergone any reconstructive surgery that involves physical improvements/beauty enhancements because they are very expensive. But if I have too much money to spend, probably I will. Maybe I should be happy for what I have for now. In the future though, given the financial capabilities, I would go for liposuction and nose lift, hahaha!

After seeing these people and what happened to them, I think you should be happy with what you have. I'm a big coward and wouldn't do this unless I REALLY HAD to do it for medical type purposes. Did you say a nose lift? What is a nose lift or are you kidding with me?, haha.

No, I never done it before. Initially, I did feel that I want to because I envy people who looks good and makes a good impression without even talking to people. But yes, like what you saw, I came across several reports about plastic surgery that gone terribly wrong and the victims have to go for many surgeries to correct the wrongs. In short, they are scarred for life! I saw the pain, and the regrets in their eyes. And no, even if I have the money to, I don't think I will want to do it and definitely discourage people from doing it. I won't let my daughter or son do it unless there is really a need to.

I'm with you, no way would I do it. And the thing was, most of these people I don't feel even needed it, but when it was over, they looked deformed. It was terrible and what an experience to go through, all to look perfect. No thanks, not me.

I haven't had plastic surgery and I am not sure if I would have to in the future so I don't want to say a word like "no" for now. I didn't see anything wrong with people wanting to become beautiful or more beautiful. And if plastic surgery is the only way, why not? I mean I don't want to judge someone in a negative way just because he/she underwent or will be undergoing cosmetic surgery. Beauty can boost our self-confidence. Living in a world without enough confidence is just living in a dark place where you don't know how to show yourself off. Nowadays, there are already a lot of people undergoing this procedure just to make themselves more attractive and beautiful. Well, I have seen and heard about some instances about having an error in the procedure but I guess the primary possible reason could be the lack of practice of the one performing the procedure. The patient should carefully look for a professional who already had a lot of experiences regarding cosmetic surgery in order to have an assurance of yourself, though there is really no 100% guarantee, but at least.

It doesn't matter to me what people prefer to do, I just couldn't believe what happened to these people and how it went so wrong. I feel so sorry for the, ugh. It's not an option for me as I'm a big coward anyway, haha. I guess I'll stick with my flaws and be happy. I'm too old to bother with that anyway. Well, just do plenty of research before you do it, if you do it. Good luck and I hope you are safe and sound.
