Do you listen to music when you need to concentrate?

Some of my friends listened to music when they wash the dishes, read a book , relaxing or when they write. If I want to concentrate on what I'm writing, I cannot afford to listen to music (even if it's jazz) because my mind sets off and seperates from me which makes it difficult for me to write an article or blog. What about you? Does it help you concentrate more or does it distract you?

With reference to your question, I dont feel listening to the music whenever I am writing an article or doing an active participation in mylot discussion thinking that I will not have the right concentration if music clings to my ear. Aside from that, it will make me redirected to sing rather than to write. However, I find it hard to explore or expand the article or topic that I want to discuss, I try to relax for a couple of minutes by listening to the music.

Music helps with the concentration one hundred percent. Especially when I work on schoolwork. Once I put some music on, everything goes smoothly. Without music, its hard for me to concentrate. So it helps me function one hundred percent. Without music, I honestly think I would get a lot less work done.

I don't concentrate very well reading and listening to music at the same time, but I can write and listen to music at the same time. Weird much? I don't know. I think when I'm reading I just want to get lost in the story, and the music distracts me from the story. When I'm writing the music helps me to get the creative juices flowing, and I'm able to write more because I feel more inspired I guess. For chores like washing the dishes, or cleaning in general, listening to music really helps.

When I REALLY need to concentrate, I need to be surrounded by total silence. If there is the slightest noise, then it seems to draw my attention.
