" I Care For My body" (a rant)

This is a line I heard on a commerical for a weight loss product. it got me thinking . Do the suits and the food Nazis think I , a person who doesn't diet, don't care for my body? They are wrong. Just because I don't count calories or eat what they Want me to eat doesn't mean I don't care. I guess it is their way of writing me off. Guess what? I have written them off first. Do you find that others assume things wrongly about you?

hi sara i have a different view of this .. i am more on the heavy side, and i believe my taste buds does not "care for the body". i have cheated myself many times claiming "it is for this ones" only and "i did not have anything like that in long time" But .. care for body does not mean counting calories as the commercial says but more into consuming "healthy food" - rather than having "un-healthy" food everyday we can opt for once a month .. I dont care for my body at times as i can drink coca cola - 3 cans per day, yes my brain says it is unhealthy but my taste bud wants that i just broke a bone on my feet and now not able to move - even though many theories has been said how i broke it - one factor remains, my weight - "So it concluded i did not care for my body" cheers

The "healthy food vs un-healthy food' talk is what I have had enough of! i am going to eat what I want when I want. The Food Nazis see this as not caring for my body then they can stop talking to me. I know I am not listening to them! If your doctor says you have to lose weight , Then just cut down on the "Bad" food. But take it out completely? why?Why eat if you won't enjoy you food?

I lot of people view caring in different ways. I actually care for my mental state by not caring about my body. I try to not count calories, or worry that the pizza slice I am about to consume is bad for me. I found a study where people are more depressed when they count calories. Food is fuel, yes, but at the same time should be enjoyed. I rather be active, and stay away from liver and salads. Give me a pizza instead.

For sure.....but they are just trying to get attention and make people feel guilty.....I don't diet...even when I gain a few pounds I just watch it a bit. We have the whole blue zone thing going on here....so many people have bought into it that it surprises me. And they are following some weird book....called mindless eating. Well what the book says I can't believe.....so call me weird. I'll go about my way doing my own thing and if they assume things about me so what...it's their loss!LOL

Yeah, that's kind of like the new phrase...."real woman"..."for the real women".. refering to women that are above a size 14. Are those below not "real women"? No, they just have to find a buzz phrase to satisfy everyone. I think that they have catered to the lower sizes for so long that now women just aren't paying any attention to it and yeah, gained a bit of weight for alot of reasons, including just cause they got tired of always being slighted in the fashion industry. I don't pay attention to any of it. I'll look at clothes that I like no matter who sponsers them. My problem is I am top heavy and short...VERy hard to find clothes to fit that... but do they do anything for ladies like me? No.... but maybe when "real women" fizzle out they might!!LOL!!! Yeah, right!

hi coffeebreak tell meabout it, I buy tops that fit around me but come to my knees as they think all fat or plump women are six foot five inches tall. must be a crime to be short and plump, the skirts always have to be hemmed, or worn coming down to your ankles, its unfair. boo hoo, someone think of us short overweight women who need pretty clothes that fit.

Sounds like we all should Make the clothes you two need. I am round on top and bottom but I am 5'5" so in our line I would be considered Tall.

Hatley - I wasn't going to go into that but yeah... isn't that a nightmare? I am 5'2" and a 38DD. Other than that, I am size 10. All my life pants have been to long or I have to buy them in relation to what specific shoes I have to wear with them and not have to hem them. Shirts.. the sleeves are always to long and can't hem those! ANd these days wtih the low cut, speghetti strap, strapless, slinky materials they make everything out of, it is hard to find even a dress - that isn't cut to my waist (I'm 52. I've shown it all before, don't want to show it again!) and then the chest part of the dress doesn't fit a 38DD and comes up to hign and makes me look pregnant and of course the front of the dress hem hangs higher than the back... and well, I won't go on!!! Just really hard to find things that fit! I used to make all my own clothes when I was younger and not top heavy, but after 30 years of doing that... I really got sick and tired of making things nad never buying and then fabric got expensive and it was cheaper to buy the dress than make it so I stopped. I've looked into starting again, but still...haveing to adjust the pattern to fit... its as much trouble as buying something that fits.

Oh dont listen to those weight people most of them dont really care for anyone ,they are just interested in seeling some weight loss program. With regards to people making wrong assumptions about me ,I get that everyday because most people think that I am snobbise because I dont talk much ,litte do they know though that I am a very shy person

Thanks friend. I guess that's why the kids in school teased me. I was painfully shy so they must have assumed the same thing about me. I am still a little shy.shyness can be misunderstood. Thanks for responding. Talk to you later.

People assume a lot of wrong things about me. I am an extrovert, so they think I am never lonely! I am strong, so they think I am never weak! I am thinner so they think I never have any trouble over eating or losing weight! and the list goes on...

Those people are stupid idiots. Just because I don't do things according to the social norm does not mean that I don't care for myself, or for others. I do what i can, the way I believe it is best to do it, and according to my own principles. Just because I don't do things "their way" doesn't mean I don't care. Good for you for writing them off first.

I care for my body, too. I don't diet either. I like my round shape and full, ample belly. My body doesn't look or function well on a diet. You see, I have certain metabolic issues that are not enthused if I try to diet. These kind of commercials tick me off, as well.

My star raking stays at 7 because I say what I think, and believe what I say. I get told about it regularly, but I never "rant". This is because I am proudly who I am. Anyone is free to write me off, in fact I wish they would! I will stay proudly who I am! You will never never catch me ranting about anything! Life is just too much fun to let the little things get under my skin. Nobody assumes anything wrongly about me, because chances are, they are right!

I am so much better these days. Before September I would have been steaming mad and I would have emailed the company. But instead I " ranted' here to see if I were alone in my view. so far I am not. I labeled a rant so others could make up their minds if they wanted to read it or not.

hi sarahruthbeth22 I do not pay one fig of attention to the weight loss crap or so called food nazis, I am a diabetic and I go by the information and help that my diabetic nurse educator gives to us, and we eat a lifestyle change, we do not count caloris so much as grams of carbs, and we eat most all foods but in moderate portions. so we exercise and eat correctly then we lose weight.I do not give one fig for what other assume wrongly avout me as fat p eople are always a good target for mean hearted p;eople so to hell with them. I am under my doctors care and I amn going to lose weight but my way not with weight loss crap that is poisonous and hard on the heart too.,

Good for you. My wish for you is that when you lose the weight that your sugar level gets to the point where you don't need your meds! Good Luck! Take care.
