So far, i never had any problem to change my money into smaller change, since there are a few nearby groceries shops where i can easily buy something small and change them. In case i am in a hurry, i can just bring some change which i kept in my piggy bank at my home. But, since most of the shops which i visited everyday uses debit card or credit card, i prefer to use them, so easy for me to track my expenses for the month. I always trying my best to control my expenses, so not to spend too much money into food items.

It's a wise move to save as much money as we can during this economic downturn, where it's hard to earn money. The money that we had saved could be used for our future need or during the rainy days. Happy mylotting to you, too....

My husband and I are more apt to use our debit cards then we are to use paper money, or even checks. Here in the USA it seems that more and more people are doing just that. Checks are becoming obsolete at grocery stores now as they have an electronic system that works much like a debit or credit card. I think it's a good idea to have a few bucks on hand though just in case the machines don't work, but I wouldn't be surprised if in ten years, even paper money became obsolete.

Hello SomeCowgirl me too think that paper money will be replaced by plastic money, its also in the latest news.Well atleast in my country it time to start doing every transaction with debit and credit cards and its system. There are still old methods going on well, so am required to have atleast some change to complete the transaction, or have to pay more or buy more.Anyways keep it up with your mylotting, and your expenditures.Happy mylotting.

There were / are stores here in the USA that require you to buy so much before you are allowed to use debit. Dollar Store used to be one of them, but I don't think they are. Also, it used to be at Dollar General that you couldn't use debit, now you can.

I would keep track of how much change I spend in a week and when you get your paycheck and go to cash it at the bank, get your weeks worth of change of what you think you will need. Then after the week, see if you have change left or if you will need more on your next payday.

Hello mzz663 me too recently started to collect some change form my banks, when am withdrawing or deposting any cash in it.Well its preferably the easiest way to acquire change in today running life.As we do have to visit our banks regularly, and taking change at that time won't take much of it.But still on end days of the month am short of change due to my expenses.Anyways keep it up with your mylotting and yoiur expenditures.Happy mylotting.

I'm on Disability and I have Direct Deposit. This is what I do. In the first week of the month I go to the bank and withdraw everything except $50 each month. So, that means with every check I get I'm putting $50 in the bank each month. Then I get money orders for all my rent and all my other bills. With the leftover money I put that in a special envelope in a drawer and I always keep at least $20 in my purse. If I'm going shopping I will put $100 in my purse to make sure I can cover ALL of my expenses. This works out great for me and enables me to save a good amount of money each month. Because of this I have a nice chunk of money in the bank for emergencies. The reason I go to the bank and withdraw most of the money from my monthly checks each month is for various reasons. 1). I don't have a car and it would be very inconvenient to keep going to the bank each time I needed money. 2). I specifically decided to NOT have an ATM card because that would make it easier for me to withdraw $20 here or $30 there and before you know it I'm broke and have no money in the bank. This insures that a good portion of my money stays in the bank each month. I put myself on a very strict budget each month so that when an event comes along that I want to go to on ocassion or there might be something expensive that I want to buy for myself once or twice a year I have the money and I don't feel guilty about spending the money because I'm very good at saving money. Here in china,It's easy to get change in the morning.Even if you pay big money to buy breakfast. So i think it's not a problem for me. You know, there are too many stores to compete each other.
