I am not exactly homeless but I don't have access to a kitchen on a daily basis. I usually do all my cooking and now I can't so my whole "food life" has been interrupted. So I have been forced at times to eat out (which isn't always healthy). So I have had trouble finding healthy snacks on the run. I have found a couple though for less than 3 bucks! One is at Wal-mart. They have a little package of humus with pretzels. IT is around 2 bucks and it is delicious. I like the red pepper one. Another is at Chic-fila and a large waffle fry with a chocolate milk is like $3.07. I usually try to carry a banana with me and a soy mile. I don't like to drink it cold anyway! What healthy snacks do you know of for on the run (no kitchen allowed) for about 3 bucks?

Lest cost snacks that are healthy are foods with vegetables combination. We have here in our country less cost foods like that. It is much cheaper but give a good nutritive value. Sometimes, I cook and prepare for my family healthy snacks at home so that they will not buy anymore outside.

I don't have a home so I cannot prepare before hand as I usually do. That's the trouble!
Usually here though, if it is healthier, it costs more. I haven't figured out why that is true yet! It seems like fresh items which require less packaging and handling would be less expensive!

that translates as about £1.80 per snack - best bet is a supermarket for fruit and prepared veg and things like hummus to dip them in. at least in this country there are usually mini-versions of supermarkets in town centres and they are cheaper than fast food outlets. you could also buy a couple of brown rolls and slices of cheese to put in them for instant sandwiches. if not you can stock up once a week as fruits and vegetables don't need refrigerating. otherwise even the likes of mcdonalds usually have at least one thing that is relatively (if not very) healthy - salads, sandwiches, veggieburgers.

I have found it to be true that when on the run it's cheaper to run through the supermaket than a fast food place. And generally much healthier as well! Thanks for the suggestions!!
