Do you work from home?

In some jobs you can work from home - and some companies even prefer it. I usually work in an office, but I also have the option to work from home occassionally. I normally only do this when I have some work to do which requires a lot of concentration. But this week the heavy snowfall in the UK stopped me from going to work. My car was only sliding, not driving controlled. So I had to work from home for 2 days. Do you like it? It's fine for a day, but I find it quite exhausting. I feel I work even harder when I work from home because you don't take proper breaks and don't stop for chats with colleagues. Do you feel the same?

I wish I had the option to work from home, but my job doesn't quite work that way. I delivery pizzas, and unless they start doing it where the orders are taken offsite, then that's not going to happen. lol I know my mom used to have a job where she had the option to work at home when needed. It was definitely a help at times.

You could ask the customers to come to you instead. However, I'm not sure that would work! :-)

You're right. That wouldn't work out too well. I live 20 minutes outside of town as it is. It'd be faster for them to just go to the restaurant to get the pizzas rather than come to me.

I definitely work from home. I am a nurse in profession but because of recession, I chose not to practice my profession yet. Nurses here in the Philippines do have a very small salary. Aside from that, it is also difficult to apply for that job nowadays due to a large number of nurses and few hospitals here. We cannot be easily accommodated. So, I am now earning money as an online English teacher for Japanese students. It's good because there is no reason for me to wake up very early since my lesson schedule is every night. I can still enjoy many things at home everyday. There is also no possibility of having problems with colleagues. I have more vacant time working at home rather than working in an office.

That's good. Do you want to go back to nursing then or stay a teacher if that is easier for you and better paid?

Hello Tara. Yes, I do work from home too, but not the same work that I have at my full time job. That I have to go five days a week except ofcourse when the weather becomes too severe. What I do at home is "writing online". That is more of a hobby for me, writing short stories, articles, reviews, commentaries, and so on. I do that at a number of websites.

It's the same for me. I love writing so I do some online writing. It earns me a little money but I also do it as a hobby.

hey there yeah I do work from home infact my job is 100% home based, I work in mlm and have done for over 10 years. I still get to chat to colleagues in my downline and occasionally have some of my uk based downline coming to my house or booking seminars and parties for my hard working downline so still get the social interaction. Maybe my online business is different to working from home for a company as I really only do a few hours a day working per say lol, I don't understand why people still get up at 6am and drive through rush hours and then do a days shift and earn money for someone else he he he

Well, I think you are lucky you made it work. I don't think everyone would be made for it. Good on you.

As a nurse it is quite important not to be at home! It doesn't suit all jobs. Good luck with your classes.

hello taraelocin, Oh same here!!! I also work in an office and I spend most of my day on my offline work. I always wanted the thought of working at home like freelancing but it seems hard...the number of hours I need to spend in front of the computer are more exhausting compare it to my real job. lolz Right now, I am learning things around the net and see what are my niche and basically what I can do and profit more. But right now, I really prioritize my real-job/offline work....doing some extras and part-time online doesn't hurt. I'll be freakishly happy if I can do both and be successful in it. Happy lotting!

Good luck with that. I agree, my main job is the priority. Online stuff for me is rather a bit of fun and a little extra cash.
