dO U EVER JUST GET TIRED & WORN OUT W/THE PEOPLE WHO GIVE U THE WEATHER REPORTS. Now don't get me wrong i'm glad they are usually wrong but they have gone on for days & days that we were going to have terrible weather here in Tennessee. They talked about low temps which we have had & all this snow. we were going to get it by this morn. Again let me say i'm glad they were wrong but they just worry me to death making u expect the worse. all this doom & gloom they report, u rush out to the grocery, try to get everything done that u need to so u want have to be out etc. I had just as soon wake up w/no warnings & look out the window to see what it's done if anything. Anybody else feel this way about them?

I am in Chicago, we always have a lot of snow and harsh winter. From my point of view, this year winter is not as bad as used to be in Illinois. We did have over 2 weeks of harsh cold, but it is quite normal. Yes, everybody is complaining about weather. Smile, we got your snow in Chicago, is snowing for the last 12 hours.....

I hear ya AntiqueLady. Although we don't have snow in these parts. We did have some of our weatherpeople blunder moments. It was a few times a year or two back. We were all preparing for this super typhoon. Which is what we call strong winds in the pacific regions. Those super typhoons have winds that reach more than 175mph and all the way up all packaged with thunderstorms and a whole lot of rainfall which could also precipitate a lot of flooding in very low areas. Can throw a car clear over a house at it's strongest. It can uproot huge tropical trees too. Everyone was terrified of this and was getting all prepared for the next day when it happens. School and most work were put on hold and everyone went panic buying. So much for that, the next day guess what. The wind couldn't even blow the coke can off my hand and the sky was sparkling clear with the sun up. The mayor in our city was furious at these blunder reports. Since, a lot of kids didn't get to school and a lot of businesses lost alot of money without people working. Lol. What a real blunder it was. cheers!

Hi there, I know exactly what u are talking about. U are thankful it doesn't get as bad as they say of course but all that hoopla they tell drives me nuts. I hope u don't have any bad weather like that. That has got to be terrible. Thanks for your response & take care of yourself.

Yup, we are glad they were wrong really. Nobody wants disaster anyway. But it's like the case of the boy who cried wolf. What if the next time they were right? And the people were so fed up of their blunders and didn't prepare. We wouldn't want that either. Their reports should at least be closer to home so no one gets really hurt. Lol. You take care too. Cheers!

I can well relate! I'm a transplant to the South, used to live in Boston, MA. So down here when they almost start a panic over a possible inch of snow, it amazes me. And yes the weather folks can make it sound like a natural disaster is about to happen. Generally we have a well stocked kitchen so I don't usually go and get anything. What other job can you have where you are paid 6 figures and you can be wrong 80% of the time??

Thank you! I do love the South! Tho this cold snap does remind me of Boston at least I haven't had to do any shoveling in the last few years! I remember one year we had over 110 inches and we were running out of places to put it! One town started dumping it in the Ocean until the EPA fined them for contamination potential from the road treatment stuff. Funny how when it's cold we long for Summer and then when Summer gets abit brutal, we want the cold back. Fickle humans we are!

The news media blows everything out of porportion! If it's a slow news day, they go on and on about stuff like Tiger Woods or Octomom! They make the weather seem like you'll never get out again. People panic and go to the grocery store and rush to do errands. They make such a big deal about the weather people are afraid to go out. It hurts the economy even more because people are afraid to go to restaurants or shopping or anything not necessary. Thankfully most of the time they are wrong. Then they give 14 day forcasts and they can't even get the next day right. I listen sometimes just to get an idea of how the day will be, but I listen to 3 or 4 stations, they all say something different so I have an idea, but I don't take any of them as a certainty.

I'll probably be snowed in this weekend. They came & plowed my driveway today, but it is pretty deep already. I don't know if we are going to get more snow today or tomorrow or not. I haven't heard the weather report, if all 3 or 4 stations are calling for more snow, we'll probably get some but who knows how much. I went out for a little bit today, and it was snowing pretty hard. You can't even tell the driveway was plowed.

Those weather reports are often not accurate. I often watch tv weather reports to see what will the weather be like the next day so I am well prepared should I need to go out but more often I am in for surprises as at times the weather turned out to be sunny when it say rain at a particular time. I read that you are having heavy snowing there. It must very cold in where you are staying.

LOL..I know what you mean Jo. It is snowing here now but I am thinking it isn't going to be near as bad as they first said. As a matter of fact, last night on the weather, they barely mentioned it. I worry because I would have to drive in it very early. I am still a little worried because the roads here are beginning to cover but it's the dry kind of snow that doeasn't cause a lot of trouble. Let's hope it stays that way..lol..Take care.

I know what you mean. They tell us hear in New Mexico to except a big snow storm then you wake up and its sunny and 31 degrees outside and no snow. The mountains may be covered with snow but there is no snow on my property. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they were wrong too but I just wish they could pinpoint exactly who is going to get the snow or not. When I lived in New York they usually had the weather correct. If they said take your umbrella to work with you, you usually ended up using it that day. I guess it all depends on where you live in the states and how accurate they can get the weather or maybe its all about how good the weatherman is.

Yes, I do esp. since I can read and hear the weather reports.Actually, here in OK it's ok cuz nobody messes with me::) But my friend from Mt calls and tels me how bad the weather is there and t hen complains of WHY did I leave so much heat going when I was going to be gone all winter. The weather is why and I told him before I left I'd rather have the mice and rats warm than for my pipes to freeze up and bustLOL Still he persists and just wish he'd shut up and just tell me if the house blew up or the propane tanks are empty or whatever and let me take care of it and then we can talk about other things. Mostly, it's due to the fact most people don't have another interest at the time and the weather seems t he only t hing to say :( Just do as I have started and say"keep my mouth shut" and do it over and over and over------ did that the other day with hubby and it saved fight LOL

In olden days I worked in the department. At that time , the weather forecasting was very difficult. The required information had not received on time. The forecast was not that success. Bur recent development have made the forecast accuracy to more than 90% . The forecast is issued around 15 to 25 kilometers. If the particular place is not raining/snowing it will be raining /snowing around.

Hi there Antique Lady. Well like dawnwald i watch the estimated temperatures on the internet but i must say this: the weather changes really often so that's why the weather reporters get it wrong and event the prognostics from the net often miss by a few degrees. Their reports on the weather 2 weeks from now sure change from day to day, as the clouds and winds change course.

Oh I thought it is only our country that weather reports are almost always not accurate. Even in your place!!! Well, indeed just like you, I am always thankful and happy if the worst did not come but I am somewhat annoyed with the troubles and the worries those bad weather reports bring. I know that weather could be unpredictable. It changes from time to time so I could not really blame them. But I just could not understand why sometimes they seem to exaggerate their reports thus bringing the people into panic. This the reason why I do not listen to weather reports anymore I just look at the sky, listen to the sounds of frogs and the chirping birds. I think they could give me a more accurate prediction of what the weather would be for the whole day.

I am with you all the way Anti. We had a weather report for today that is similar to yours and I have been looking out the window all day for all this rain, sleet and snow they had forecasted. Now it is almost 8'oclock pm and it hasn't done anything yet. Today it was 70% precipitation and didn't do anything now tonight they are saying 40% precipitation. Like you I am happy not to get the bad weather because there are people that have to get out in this kind of weather, and my grand kids have to go to school so I am not complaining just stating the fact that the weather forecasters were wrong again.

I dont even listen to weather reports and when I do they are usually wrong like you say .What I particulary hate is when they tell me that there will be rain and I bring my umbrella and then go to the next parish and everywhere is sunny and bright or when they tell me that it is going to be sunny and I dont take my umbrella and then reach the next state and it raining like hell. And I look like an idiot

LOL, Jo. So much for the forecasting accuracies of the doppler radar. Here, they are wrong more often than right! Like you, I simply step outside or go to the window for my weather forecast, and when they are wrong so often, I just think to myself: yup, God is still in charge of the weather, however many new gadgets mankind invents to forecast it.
