Have you found any relatives thru social sites and meet in real life?

Hello dear friends,mylotters,mere bhai/s,sister/s,
Have you ever tried searching unknown relatives thru social sites?
Just this evening,i chatted with my cousin and this reminds me how we met thru social site.
My daughter had this Friendster account(popular site here in our country),and,i asked her to search for my maiden surname.
Luckily we found one,and after thorough scanning to his profile,i find out that we came from same province.
And that's the start of it all...we meet last 2008 in my hometown and so happy to know that we are close relatives,my grandfather and his father were first cousins.
I don't know much my relatives since i was born and raised in different place far from my hometown.
Did this ever happen to you dear friends?

Yeah if happened to my my bonita..and I owed a lot on that site...it is not my first known site which commonly known social site but what is the trend site and known social site nowadays...thanks..

Good morning my bonita dear...yes almost all of them were my cousins from my mother side. Since we are more closed than on my father side. I had few contact from my father side but not as much as at my mother side..thnks..

So,you also found some relatives thru social sites...and how many are they my dear amigo?
Until now,i am searching and hoping to met more relatives(on my mom's side)...i rarely known my relatives from my mother's side,since,we haven't lived in her hometown.We just visits there once in a while.

No, not yet. But my husband has met up with many of his friends and relatives on facebook. He writes to them on a daily basis. They all would tell him to tell me hello. I have never met a few of his family members too. I really do enjoy seeing them contact him. He is so excited when he meets up with them. As for me, this has never happened yet. I hope that it will. I have seen mostly people that O went to school with instead of my relatives. I bet if I search for many of my relatives they probably will be on Facebook or Twitter.

That's good to know that your hubby is having good times communicating and tracing his relatives thru internet.
Until now,i am still hoping to locate some of my long lost friend back in my high school yrs.
I also wish you can find some of your friends and relatives and had the chance to met them in person,,,just try dear and you will know how happy it is.

wow! amiga looks like you are lucky in finding friends and even relatives online and then meeting them in person! 
me, i don't experienced it yet and don't try yet finding my lost relatives in any social sites... i never try looking for people who have same surname as me when iw as still single coz my family name is so common! haha and actually i know people who have same surname as me but they are not my relatives! hehe
but i think it would be nice if i can find one online...
but you know, my husband, haha he like searching people who have the same surname as they are..since their surname is not that common, there's a bigger chance of meeting their relatives...but so far, he just have them as friends online and don't trace yet if they are really relatives and they never met in person yet...

good to see you as my first topic responder...
my maiden surname is not common...and even in our hometown,it's not a very common surname,that is why,i am thankful with this internet world.
My cousin is now working in Dubai,and we had constant communication thru chatting and plan for second meeting in Baguio,to met my mom.
What makes us closer is...my uncle(my mom's brother)used to lived at my cousins house during his studies,that means...our family were really that close to each other.
Just keep trying dear amiga,who knows,you will be able to trace any of your real kin.

I actually searched for my cousin's name on facebook and luckily I've reached her account. She has been away for so long and living in another country for more than 15 years. I am happy to have communication with her again. It has been a long time, hopefully she'll visit us this year. I'm really excited about it.
