How often do you give yourself a treat?

Before I began my weight loss quest, I used to treat myself every Friday to either a Starbuck's Frappuccino, or a Tim Horton's Iced Capp. Once I began the weight loss back in October I stopped my Friday ritual as the coffee drinks are full of fat and sugar. However today when I was shopping I decided I'd allow myself to havea Frappuccino. I didn't finish it as quickly as I normally do, but I savored and enjoyed it! It felt great to give myself that treat that I hadn't had in so long. I do not expect to have this treat every Friday, but it's great to have once in awhile. How often do you treat yourself? Weekly? Daily? Once in awhile?

I try to treat myself once in awhile. I'm not sure if you have Sheetz up there or not. It is a really awesome convenience store like 7/11 but better. They make fruit smoothies that are soooo good. So when we're out that is my treat to myself. You also can add fat burner to them lol, so in a way its even better for me!

Daily and sometimes more than daily. But when I was dieting, I had a rule that I could have sweets (over my calorie limit) once a week on Saturday. It usually worked pretty well.

I used to also allow myself a cheat day, but I learned I had trouble getting back on track after a cheat day. This time I did not start off with a cheat day, I just stuck to it all week. Eventually I did end up taking a cheat day, but it was not the same day every week... it's whenever I feel like I need it. I'm working on making sure it happens less and less.

It worked for me that time. But later on, it didn't work so well, couldn't make myself stick to it.

That's the hard part. I struggle with my diet everyday, constantly second guessing myself. Some days I wonder if I'm eating enough, the next day I think I'm eating too much. Some days I'll say it's fine to eat what I want as long as I'm making a concious effort to make it healthier, other days I won't allow myself to eat something semi healthy because it's not healthy enough. I'm making myself crazy!

Every day I go to the Second Cup cafe just up the street from here, and have a mocha latte. some days I also have a cookie with my coffee. I go up there with whatever I'm reading, and stay there for a couple of hours of "me" time, while my husband enjoys something noisy and annoying on the Sci-Fi channel at home. LOL

Hi danish canadian: I feel a little bit jealous after reading these words because they look like simply great plans to have a intimate, nice moment enjoying a short pleasure as the taste of a cookie or coffee can give us. In my case I sometimes buy myself a bottle of ice tea while i am working here in my job. It's a good experience i think. Thanks for your answer danish canadian. Hope you are having a nice day. Keep mylotting. Take good care of you. -Alvaro.

Let's see, Hubby and I treat ourselves more then we should to a yummy treat! We've been trying to lose weight, but admittedly, I haven't tried as hard as I should. I think that during a diet, one should treat themselves ever so often as a reward. I've savored things before, that I normally wouldn't. The fact that for you it's been awhile since you've had a frappucino made it all the more better! Hope you continue to treat yourself ever so often.

That's true... I suppose.. I've noticed with failed diets that hardly have time to start that food treats are just going to have me craving more... :(

Food should never be used as a reward, otherwise you set yourself up for failure.

I tend to treat myself more than I should, and when you do that is stops being a treat. I'm also pretty good at denying myself too so I guess it sort of balances out! Christmas time is awful because there are treats EVERYWHERE and our house is still full of baking. I almost feel like I have to eat it so it doesn't go to waste so I've been 'treating' myself with things like a few cookies or some home made Turtles (yum!) a lot more than I should. I didn't even bother with the eating better resolution this year but once the goodies are gone hopefully I'll get myself back on track.

I'm quickly learning not to let treats like that into the house, because I'm terrible at moderation. If it's in the house I'll constantly crave it, and argue with myself until eventually I give in. Once I give in it starts all over again until I have another and another.. until they're gone. I always say I'll make the kids eat it all first, or I'll be strong and avoid it, but some days that's not easy to do.

Yep, I know what you mean. That's why after this Christmas junk is gone that's IT for junk food in the house!

I look forward to my once a month treat. When I get paid I have my nails done(I have tips) and a pedicure. I especially love the pedicure when they massage my feet and remove the hard skin. I believe that I have said before that it is cheap out here and I just love it and look forward to having it done. I would give up anything to have this treat each month. I feel pampered and I love my nails looking good especially as I work in an office with many people coming and going during the day.

It never hurts to treat yourself once in awhile to something that is considered decadent and bad for you..for me that would be a meat sauce lasagna with the works..something I love but rarely get and even less often because hubby doesn't like it. If I get to spoil myself I want it to be with something I love and don't get often..I get treated rarely with trinkets and stuff but monthly with different foods.which in my case is bad bad bad..

First off I am frustrated this morning. I am not getting notifications of friends discussions etc. Oh well, the same glitch has returned once again for me it seems is all. Anyhow, I treat myself each and every day by staying clean and sober. As far as treats foodwise etc, I guess I treat myself often as I am a junk food junkie. My fave, which I just bought again recently, is cheesecake. YUMMY. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Oh I love cheesecake! I would not buy it for myself though because I wouldn't stop eating it until it was gone! The last time I had cheesecake was about a month ago at hubby's company Christmas party. Although I was dieting, they pulled out the cheesecake and I couldn't resist.

I think for me if I am going on a strict weightloss programme then I have to have something to look forward too. I just do not see the point of cutting absolutely everything out and having nothing to look forward too, to me that is just the quickest way to fail because I end up becoming down and then I go stuff my face. I tend to have a treat day once a week and on that day I eat whatever I fancy. I do not eat a lot anyway so my treats are never huge so I do not end up putting any weight on but at the same time I have something to look forward too and work hard towards each week. The other thing I also do is weigh myself the day before my treat day and if I have put weight on I cannot have the treat day so it spurs me on to work hard all week!

I allow myself an evening of treats one day a week, usually a Saturday night which normally consists of pizza, ice cream and snacks for an evening of movie watching. But I am very strict and only allow myself that evening off if I have achieved everything I had set out to do for that week, be it work, exercise or something else. If for some reason I've been lazy and not done everything I should have I don't treat myself. It maybe a bit like a carrot and a donkey approach to getting everything done but it works plus treating ourselves is an important part of living and motivation or else we can soon become too dispondent with what we are trying to achieve.

I used to treat myself with food right before I go home but now that I do not have funds for any leisure, I do not. But that would just be a temporary thing. I am aiming to get more from my online thing for extra funds that I am planning for this summer.

Hi kats meow: I used to take a treat weekly when I had a weekly weight loss plan and it works definetly. In some ways I think that we are just like kids no matter the real age we have and giving us a kind of prize is the best way to feel that we are doing the things right so we deserve this. Thanks for asking us this question kats meow. Hope you are having a nice day. Keep mylotting. Take good care of you. -Alvaro.

I think I treat myself like once in a week. It usually happens in the end of the week, when I feel, that I deserve some treat for working hard during the whole week. I buy myself a chocolate bar or some kind of cake.

Daily most of the time. I have no will power whatsoever to give up the things I enjoy. I mostly balance everything out by exercising like a madman. Everything works out better. Watching what I eat will just give me more stress and in fact I'm almost convinced that I gain more weight, then when I just eat like I normally would. So lots of treats but also lots of exercise to help cancel out a lot of the ill effects of said treats.
