That was just over 40 years ago when I was seventeen. I had not committed to Christ yet. I was going to drive my dad's car through a busy red light. I guess my flesh chickened out and I stopped--screeching the tires. But then I continued once the light turned green, then started downhill to the Passaic River. Again, the flesh kicked in and I chickened out. Thank God!

Feeling that way is something a lot of people have gone through. I have on occasion let myself get so depressed about a situation in my life that I have had serious thoughts of ending it, but I think what saved me is the rationalization that negative emotions will fade, and the fact that often times when we feel this way we are alone. So If I have gotten this way in the past I try to make sure my mind is occupied with something constructive or fun, and I either make a call to a friend or loved one, or go somewhere to be with people. Even if its just to walk around in the local mall. At least your not alone, and you can think about things without getting to the point of considering ending your life. That is never the answer, and in the end probably the most selfish thing anyone can do in this life.
