Mandelson the Magnificent - Or Maybe Not!

Regular visitors to p.e. will know there is a standard bearer for Peter Mandelson among our ranks. I share lots of interests with this member, but Peter Mandelson is not one of them. In fact, I can't really think of anyone else who actually likes the man.
Apparently, he's to be in charge of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012. Given that he was also in charge of the Millenium Dome, and it only became successful when O2 acquired it, do you think he's the right man for the job? Richard Littlejohn of the Daily Mail obviously doesn't think so. His take on the enterprise is hilarious.

Dearest Sandra, no one takes the Daily Mail seriously, the only thing it ever had to offer with any sense was Keith Waterhouse.
Peter Mandleson is the sort of politician the tax payers need, and he must have received a hefty promise of something politcally sought after if he is engaging in this sort of drivel. Mark my words one day Peter Mandleson will be ensconsed in a position more fitting. It won't be long before he's the President of Europe. Excellent brain the man has and is probably only involved in this waste of money to get an inside look at how to overthrow the monarchy.

Hello, Thea - less than 10 minutes to ride to his defence - you must have it bad!
Perhaps you're right and he does have a cunning plan. Did you read the article? It really is funny.
I can think of a more fitting position for him, actually - Minister for the Samba. He does still have the Brazilian boyfriend, I take it.

Sandra Purlease, Richard Littlejohn, life is too short.
Seriously though if politics had more slimeballs like Peter who actually had brains and aren't too bothered about being popular the place would run with more sense. It's a pity he's going to sell himself out if the rumours of mayor of London are true. I also used to like Norman Tebbit and Kenneth Baker, yet more lost potential.
By the way you'll probably get 3 responses here I guess, me, Tony and the Rabbit when back next week. I don't think anyone else will have heard of him.

Hello, Lamb, and thanks for the master class in posting links. It's the first one I've tried - and it works.

Is there really someone here that has a good word to say for the loathsome Lord Sandra? Is their name PeterM by any chance. Only a few weeks ago he was saying how he'd work for the tories should they get in at the next election. With that kind of loyalty I wonder that he remains such a darling of Gordy. But then he's probably got all the dirt on our beloved unelected PM. Littlejohn's article was amusing - if it didn't only sound so possible.

Hello, Pikey. 'Loathsome Lord' - I like it. As you say, that article isn't outside the bounds of probability, is it? I think, like Tony Blair before him, Gordon Brown would rather have Mandy inside the tent pi$$ing out, than outside the tent pi$$ing in.

Hello, Judith. Glad I tempted you out of your burrow - or is it warren? As a Boris lover, I expect you thought the queen's bike tour was a good idea as well.
