I agree. Too much work both from the office or at home may stress out our bodies and mind so a little rest would be a big help. I for myself, had been so loaded with work both at home and at the office. I have forgotten to slow down a bit to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. That is what i enjoy most when i sit back and relax on my rocking chair. Come to thin of it, i haven't spent any time on it these day. Where i could just sit and relax, listen to the chirping sound of the birds in my neighbor's backyard. Enjoying the soft breeze and the swashing sound of the leaves of the trees nearby. Ah, i think i may stop what i am doing now and sit back, relax and do nothing.....

hi seetie, that good things to know you know to take a break and just let yourself folow the dictates of your body and mind when they refuse to cooperate no matter you like to do. It is a signal to top then take a rest it is good to recharge the energy lost . it may keep you feel more active after you undergo the process and you would reap the benefit afterward. thank you for your reply.

I much prefer to live simply. Meditation and exercise are the two ways I destress. I do enjoy taking time everyday to do something for myself. I almost never find myself doing nothing, after all nothing is something. There is a thin line between relaxation and liziness.

hi tawny, That good things you have your own strategy and I think you do already know to spend your spare time on something not need you to force yourself to enjoy but it would comes as normal as it is so you could feel more better and relax. Yeah, they are different it would comes the differences in time if lot is wasted then it is laziness and when only short time is spend then it comes as relaxation depending on the level of stress and the need to heal yourself in the process of using those extra time.. thanks.

I don't believe in doing nothing. I think that you are always doing something even if you are doing nothing. I try to make the best of my day by working, and then doing things that I enjoy. Sleeping is my time for restoring. I make sure that I get good nights rest so that i am not tired through the day.

Alot of people find it hard to do nothing because there is this pressure to always be go go go. So they can't enjoy doing nothing because they feel guilt. I sometimes feel this way but practice doing nothing anyway.

Hi neelianoscet, Doing nothing is I believe, similar to what I call "going into the silence". I like to go somewhere where I can be alone, close my eyes, still my mind and simply listen to the silence. Sometimes I may meditate but at other times I will just relax and do nothing. I find the benefits of this to be astounding and always return feeling calm in mind and body. Blessings.

It's always good to be taking a break from things, at some point of time, in order to prevent ourselves from becoming stagnant.. haha =D I AGree upon your point!! Sometimes, when we dun take a break or rest, our mind wont be able to move on much, and tend to stay upon the same point, circling round it, making it look like a routine, rather than a hobby or interest?? Very soon, one might even end up giving up tottally, because it's become a chore to them already.. haha =D So resting is important, so as to set the passion burning!! hehe

I like doing nothing especially on the holidays and after office hours and my wife gets mad at me. So I have to take her and the children for an outing and when I watch the happiness in their faces, it gives me the most satisfaction. However doing nothing and sitting at home is not for me, because it bores me.

I am a master in that art. One just acquires that skill over time especially when all your life you have been doing nothing. It is also difficult to make nothing. Seriously speaking though, I agree that taking a break from it all, doing seemingly nothing that could stress us out is a big help in our overall productivity. It does make us get in better perspective of things that it gives us the renewed energy to see things in a new light. It could help with how we strategize in tackling the work at hand when we get back to it. Doing nothing helps us regain our senses, and in this fast paced lifestyle of the modern times, it pays to unwind and recharge.^_^

Hi bjcyrix, Well, it really be tiring to do nothing when one is in a stationary position likely to get cramps and the body feel tired too which is the opposite things when other people misinterpret as some think if one is immovable then it is a relaxing period. But the truth one get bored too doing nothing for awhile, some say they feel feel tired always working which very true. Just like you mention getting back to one senses is the things which one could benefits in doing nothing one learn to relax and rest her body and mind to cooperate with plan successfully accomplish when all the parts of the whole being function lead to the complete holistic renewal.

The saying "Everything in Moderation" would be appropriate in this situation. Taking breaks from everything by doing nothing or maybe being active to take a break from doing nothing is the best way to go.^_^

Believe me this old tired worn out body tells me when it is time to sit down. That's one reason i stay busy because it takes me about 10 times longer to do things now, lol.

hi antiquelady, That absolutely fine as long as you learn to slow down and do only too little not too much pressure then it is still tolerable. As long as you know your limit even if you find always yourself kinda busy over little or bigger things when your body talk to you to get a rest for awhile, i think there is nothing wrong in listening. Well, watching television series is a way relaxing and me too like the way it use to be just sitting down while munching on my favorite snacks. it sounds so much fun but i observe when i am too engross in watching television it is important to put the other foot on the chair for support to avoid crampy feeling then stand for awhile as i myself could not stand too long in sitting down position i get to stand for awhile s my butt get hurt from sitting too long. Well, being couch potato i seem tired sometimes but when rarely done it doesn't hurt to try. Have a Happy Sunday

Well, i do believe now..lol.. My aunt too uses to tell me she feel tired when do nothing and the more active she is the more she feel her body going strong. As the body when not used it even lead to weakness so it is good things to avoid dilly dally..

I have never been very good at doing nothing as I am always very active and like to keep getting things done. It has come to my attention recently that I am probably a little worn out so over the Christmas holiday period I made sure that I spent loads of time reading and relaxing to recharge my batteries. This was not always easy while we were away travelling over the break, but now that we are back home and we have left our children with their grandparents, I am loving the fact that I can do things at a slower pace and take time out to do nothing at all. I am looking forward to seeing my kids again, but am also taking full advantage of the time without them.

hi rawbill, that good things for you since you like to spend more time being active than procrastinate. It would do more improvement and you would gain than doing nothing. For me the phrase is just a metaphor where in the extreme cases when you feel tired then you do nothing because it is the time to rest and relax. be at peace within your inner self just like relaxing the mind and body at the same time during quiet pace so it would do great things in your perspectives in life giving you more benefits such as rejuvenating your holistic attitudes by being positive like recharging the lost energy. thanks.

I have been back in the Go, Go, Go mode recently and it is taking a strain. I am learning to meditate now to do as you say. Relaxing the mind and body and being at peace with the inner self. This is definitely an area that I can improve in.

hi shuying, yeah, and they are both inter alignment with each other as when the other parts seem not working the other too would not likely to cooperate. so far they need to be rest and relax for a full charge like a batteries then after they are fully restored to their normal state. our body and mind could fully recover from stress then comes back again to resume the normal activities. thanks

Yes!There's always a need to stop and rest for while in order for us to improve our physical and mental ability.Too much work will stress you and it will unable you to think and work effectively.Enough rest and sleep allows you to regain your strength be more productive. So good to take a rest from time to time.

hi jakie, Well said and i do think the same way as our body is not to be treated like robot who never get tired even the way the mind work need rest to function effectively just like a machine when it is too much over used it lead to lot of hazardous damage. so it is good to do nothing for awhile for our own good too. As over work may gives one lots of money or improve life but in exchange the health is somehow being sacrifices which at the end is not worth the effort as all things need to be put in balance. thanks.

I do nothing during weekend, I do nothing after doing everything. Like for example, every saturday night I do all my writings . I stayed up all night to finish it, until morning and Sunday morning I will rest for whole day. The benifits I get from doing nothing , is nothing. Hahahahahaha. Sometimes when I am just lying in bed, the benifits I get is thinking what should I do next. Then I will write something on my organizer, then I will do something now. Also you get to rest for a while to those loads of your work.

Sadly I don’t remember a time when I sat and did nothing for an extended period of time! It is the best way to recharge the body and mind. That is why for me, the best holidays are well away from the house and somewhere one can take the time to do absolutely nothing! I am due for a ‘do nothing’ break! I think if one doesn’t take a good lazy break for at least a week every year one may begin to see sign of illness over time...

yes, you are right. sometimes we need to stop for a rest so that we can adjust ourselves for a better beginning. I've been working many years so surely I have experienced the period you mentioned. To be laid off or to quit for a quiet mediation is a good thing.

hi magic, yeah, that is really necessary for everyone to slow down for awhile then after one have rest then all things would be back to normal again and get continue the same active momentum of working with less delay. Being productive for short help a lot then putting small amount of time for the body to rest and allowing the mind to rest makes anyone to become wise thinker. thanks

Yes, i have read an article saying that we should stop and be silent for even a few seconds everyday. This will lengthen our life according to that article. You know, i have been doing this even before i read that article and the feeling is so nice when i stopped and stare at blank spaces for a while. As if detaching yourself from reality. As if your brain has stopped functioning temporarily but after a while your back again. I really believe that we should have a quiet time once in a while.

Doing nothing is relaxing your mind and body.As you try to relax, you become unconscious. The unconscious state is the one who makes you calm and replenish your mind and body.Lastly,do nothing and you'll have something.
