Whenever I read some discussions on coffee or tea, I usually find that people in US and Europe prefer their coffee with cream and never with milk. Whereas in India we never add cream, and it is alway only milk.Even though I have tried to take coffee with cream, I never liked that taste. So can somebody tell me, why it is cream and not milk.

I use cream but if I run out I don't mind using milk for coffee but my husband doesn't like it. I can use either one it doesn't matter to me.

Any particular reason why your husband does not like milk and prefers only cream ? As for me, since I like my coffee to be thick and sweet, I get this only with milk, and with cream it is not the same.

Well, in our place most people use creamer. But most coffee shops also use ice cream on coffee and I have tried it. It does taste good. It actually depends on the flavor that you use and the kind of coffee. Its a matter of chemistry.

I have tasted Iced coffee, and it has tasted quite nice,of icecream on coffee, is also quite goo, but nothing beats the taste of a Hot filter coffee with milk and sugar.

Of course, it's a matter of preference. In addition to that, it is possible that at one time, before all this diet business, cream was considered rich tasting and only the rich could afford it. The poor did well to afford milk.

Hi ramesh, over here people drink coffee as it's meant to be drunk, strong and black, no creamers or milk or any such things. Tourists get a little plastic pot of something which lasts forever. Some people put sugar in which is totally vile, good coffee should be left alone.

This is something, which I have never tried.I always add milk and sugar to my coffee, and I like to take the coffee as a golden brown liquid and not the black one.Yes coffee lovers have told me, that the real coffee should be taken without milk or cream or sugar. But some how I cannot drink that kind of bitter brew.

Hi Ramesh, I love putting on cream on my coffee. i just love the aroma of the mixed. creamer enhances the aroma of the coffee and vice versa. i love drinking milk separately-- as milk alone. but creamer will always be a partner of my coffee.

I think over here in the U.S, we use cream because it lightens the coffee and thickens it some. Personally, I've used: Milk, cream, half and half (half cream and half milk), powder creamer and liquid creamer. They all taste the same to me except for the flavored creamers. it boils down to how well it lightens the coffee, the texture it gives, how it cuts the bitterness of the coffee and the flavor it gives.

Some people use creamer because some people has lactose intolerance meaning they cant take milk and milk products because their body react differently with lactose in milk. For diet conscious, creamer has less fat compared to milk thats why they chose creamer over milk.

Interesting. Now I understand why the westerners use cream rather than milk.
