"I'm not going to toot my own horn but......."
What does that even mean?
I mean if it's my own horn, dam right I'm going to blow it!!! What else am I supposed to do with it?
I just looked up the price of a used student trumpet, and the price was $250!!!
For that price not only am I going to blow it, I'm going to keep it polished and blow it every chance I get.
Which begs to ask.........would you blow a bugle that a strange blower has already blown?
I just wonder who comes up with some of these expressions and why they have such long staying power.
Is there a committee or something that we can submit our own expressions to???
Anyways.........if you'll excuse me........I have my cake and I'm going to eat it too!

Hey sconi! Well, if you want to blow your own or someone else's
horn, go right ahead! But, maybe you should boil it first? I'm
just sayin'? I don't know nuthin' about horns, although I did
play flute for a minute, but not well! And violin too, but not
well, in fact real bad! And as for the cake, I am definitely
there for that and can I have a piece? Paleeeezzzzzz? Thank
