Is the quantum of resource allocation & expenditure on space research justified?

Do you think space organizations are just wasting money in exploring nothing ? Well I feel so . I mean how can you just spend money on exploring space when most of the human population is not getting the daily bread and a proper space to live ? Its like decorating our lawns with the most expensive plants and spending money on searching for new machines to get out something from our lawns , when we do not have money to buy food for ourselves or don't have a proper all weather home .What do you say ?
