When we could choose for ourselves what we want to eat?
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg wants the Health Department to add salt to a crackdown list on foods that includes a ban on transfats and a requirement for fast food restaurants to display nutrition labels.
I am all for nutrition labels. But ban on foods? are you frickin kiddin me?
What is your opinion? Are you glad that your local government will now choose what you want to eat? Whew I was worried I might have to make a decision.

do you have the term 'nanny state' over the puddle? i would need to look into transfats (about which i know very little) to get this into context but on the whole trying to protect people can be taken way too far. proper labeling and not letting manufacturs be sneaky is a good idea though (they'd label oil as 'low sugar' and erm sugar as 'low fat' if they could)

I am also pro labling but anti governmental control. I think that they are pushing their governmental issues a little to far when they get to decide for everyone just how much and what we shall be allowed to eat. Salt content , fat content, lard all of these things that add a certain flavor to foods they want to ban, they don't want to strike at the industries that manufacture it, but by outlawing the usage of such products they are shutting down certain food product markets. Which is another way that the government is helping to eliminate jobs in an already wrecked economy and job market.

What a novel concept it would be to allow people to be adults? Under the current format there is never a time when we are adults. They tell us that at 18 we are but are we? When we are children we needed our parents to tell us what to do, is that not what the people that form government are doing? Are they not just making themselves into our continuous parents?

I saw something on the news last night about now they're trying to make school lunches healthier.. and basically they were showing a tray full of lettuce along with a milk.
Now my older 3 kids who are in school get a free school lunch due to our income, and I'm happy with that. When they're in school I don't worry about having to feed them lunch... that's a bit less money than I have to spend on groceries.
However, now because there are a crud load of obese kids, now the schools feel like it's their responsibility to put our kids on diets!
Well I'm furious. My kids are skinny... my 13 year old only weighs 80 lbs! I don't send them to school so they can get a tray of lettuce! I'm going to have to start sending them with a real lunch. It sucks that because some parents allow their kids to stuff their face with junk, now my family has to suffer!

It hate it when the government micromanages us. I am a grown adult...I can decide for myself what I want to see. I don't need or want "mama governement" to decide it for me.
They treat us like we are stupid and can't make decisions for ourselves. It is insulting.
