I have recently seen Avatar at cinema with 3D and unfortunately I have to say that I won't do it again. The movie was great indeed but the 3D was absolutely tiring and keeping those heavy glasses on your nose for 2 hours...it's not a good feeling!!! What do you feel about it? Is it different at 4Ds or more?

I really enjoy watching in 3D it brings the movie to life. It's like a roller coaster ride without the stress of watching the world go by as you endure the thrill. And for the glasses, it's only a minor sacrifice for such a great experience. And if you rest your head back the glasses don't seem so heavy. If possible I'd love to go see Avatar in 3D.

i've never seen a long 3D movie before, the last one i was the Harry Potter one (not the last one, but the one before last). It was only a few minutes at the end. But i did work for an IMAX with 3D and they did have the glasses there with full movies. They were about the size and weight of regular sun glass at over $100 each pair. I think it was more like $500 though, I can't remember. But I haven't seen any of the new ones. The one I had for harry potter were the cheapo ones. not the red and blue, but the cheap plastic type. 4D i think is like the stuff at universal, it just adds the touch sense into it and has movement and things like mist and air at you. at least thats what i think it is.

Hmmm...I'm not that expert to say how is it different from 4D or more because I have never seen a movie in 3D. I would like to see once but we don't have 3D cinema in my city, only if I got to see a movie to the capital of my country but I don't know if I would like to go 3 h there and 3 h home just for watching 3D. But I guess it should be a good experience

The trouble is 3D is still a gimmick which is limited by the number of cinemas which can offer the experience. It's good for those movies which are a rich visual experience but for those movies which are normal, your average drama, comedy or romcom it won't really add enough to the experience to make it worth while. Whilst I don't think it will be just a passing phase like when they toyed with the idea back in the 80s it's a few years off before it really becomes mainstream.

I think the technology has not reach the stage where 3D does not require you to wear the glasses. For the time being, wearing the glasses allow me to see the graphic effects. That is something worth for the heavy glasses. Anyway, is only my opinion. Maybe in another 2 years, there is no need to wear the glasses but the effect is still as nice.
