Could you live without electricity?

I don't know that I could live without electricity, at least not during the winter. It can get cold in my neck of the woods, so we need the heater. There wouldn't be a whole lot that would work if there was no electricity in the house. I'm not talking about living like the Amish people, but if there was no electricity bill that'd be one less bill to worry about.

Hello, I can't live without electricity... cuz i need to use frig, TV, some heat, or AC, and other stuff that use electricity. My bill is around $30-$50 a month... depend on how much I use. So, this much is not really bother me much

You're lucky. During the summer our electrcity bill is somewhere in the $60-$70 range. During the winter, it's almost triple. Fortunately, we're paying a budget amount right now, so that helps during the high months.

Wow! That's not bad at all! We don't even have electric heat and our last electric bill was somewhere around $170!!!

Well... as far as the heat thing goes... what if, in your neck of the woods, the power lines freeze up and your electric is off for a day or two? i think I could live without electricity... and actually, Amish would be the way to go! They have propane or kerosene or something lights all thru their house, they manage just fine! Have a little wood burner or coal burner to heat your home - they can do an AWESOME job! It would teach kids how to be kids again, I think! No TV, no video games, no fancy pants whatever! Play with your blocks, swing on the swing, play in the sprinkler! I think life might be a little more boring in the winter without electric... but not un-do-able by any means!

There's no wood burner or gas heat in the house. It's just electricity in our house. The main thing I'd worry about if the electricity went out is the heater systems. There are times when I can do without computers or televisions.

well that's what I'm saying! If you're going to live without electricity then that shouldn't just mean the TV and the computer. That should mean without a pump for your water, without a hot water heater, no furnace, no light bulbs or toasters or microwaves... might as well take it old school. If you're asking if we could live without TV's or computers, then that is an ENTIRELY different subject.

I don't think I could do it. I hate when the lights go off and nothing works. Not to mention, I don't have a fireplace or anything that would keep me warm and I would just roast during the summer if I couldn't at least have a fan to use to keep cool. I just could not manage at all. I need my electricity!

Hi, CRSunrise. I know what you mean. Having an extra light bill to pay off can be something.. I could not live without electricity. I depend on this electrical source. I may could do without it for about 4 to 5 hours. But, sooner or later, I will need it. Especially during the hot summers and cold winters.

HI! Well, for me it depends on that, where do I live! I mean, if I live in the city as now, I think, i couldn't live without electricity, but If I have a house in the mountain, then it will be no problem for me to live without it! I can walk the whole day long and it will not bore me! SO I am 50/50
