Have you ever tried traveling by lifting thumb?
If yes, was it a good experience? Did you manage to get a ride shortly, or did you have to wait for a long time?
If you don't support hitchhiking, then why?
I've hitchhiked a couple of times, when I wanted to go to the city nearby. It's like 20km from place where I live, so it wasn't hard to get a ride. I decided to hitchhike because I didn't want to wait for the next bus, which would come two hours later.
So, what are your thoughts about the topic?

Sadly high hiking can be dangerous. When I traveled in Australia the first time there was a backpacker murderer. I have hitched a couple of times and luckily I stayed safe. In Mjet in Croatia I walked a long way and realized the national park was many miles away. I hitched there with one man. On the way back four Hungarian tourists gave me a lift back to the campsite. In French Polynesia I had missed the once a day bus. With two other backpackers we hitched all the way to the backpackers hostel. We had a ride in the back of a truck. The tropical sun was strong on the journey.

Wow, you're like experienced hitchhiker! I agree, it can be dangerous, especially when you hitch in a foreign country. And it's way more dangerous if you are woman. You know, there are many maniacs who come especially after women and not men.
That's why I feel quite safe when hitching near my home place.
Anyway, I hope I'll get to hitch somewhere outside my homeland too one day. It would surely be an interesting experience!
