Do you think a vegetarian diet is better than a meat diet?I think vegetarian maybe better because then you're not eating animal fat.I would think it's better to cut out the animal fat in one's diet.what do you think about this? What's your opinion?

Personally, I could never go strictly vegetarian. I love meat too much. I love chicken and turkey (though I do prefer the white meat to the dark meat), beef, and venison (though I rarely have the opportunity to get it). I also love eggs, though I usually remove the yolk from 1 or 2 rather than eat them all. I am not a big fan of fish, though. There are very few varieties of fish that I can eat because I simply do not like the taste. I am fine with tuna, cod, and a couple of others that have a relatively mild taste, but I do not like salmon at all. I truly believe that we need to eat meat, including small quantities of animal fat, as human beings. The old saying, 'you are what you eat' has merit. There are certain nutrients that our bodies can process only in the presence of fat (vitamins A and D, specifically). Dietary cholesterol has been vilified due to the connection between cholesterol and heart disease. The fact is that our bodies need cholesterol. It is the precursor to both testosterone and estrogen. Without it, our bodies will struggle to produce these important hormones. I also eat a fair amount of vegetables and fruits. These are also important in our diets. They provide a lot of phytonutrients that are just not available in meat. Fiber is a major reason to consume vegetables and fruits. I think that we really need to look to all food groups for proper nutrition - though we certainly need to do so in moderation. Over-consumption of any one thing can be hazardous.

I couldn't go totally with out meat.I do know meat has an important vitamin in it that we need, the vitamin is found in meat. When I eat meat I like the lean cuts.I can't handle the fatty, some is ok,but not too much.I remember I tried to be a vegetarian,I felt weak all the time so I gave up.I agree that any thing over done is bad. Thanks for your response.

I think, vegetable is better than meat. We can full fill what our body need. Vitamins, protein, and else. But if we start to be a vegetarian when we are adult, I suggest you aren't leave your meat meal. Reduce the portion. Eat meal less than vegetable. It would be great. Except you start to be vegetarian from childhood.

I don't think vegetarian diet is better than a meat diet. or a meat diet is better than a vegetarian diet. It depends. I read through some books on people living a long and healthy life. some of them prefer vegeterian diet, they are quite strong and healthy. and some of them can not enjoy meals without meat, they eat a lot of meat every day, but they are still healthy.
