I can say that I will be checking out the new season staring tonight. The early stages are actually one of the parts that we love the most. Such amazing talent and lack of talent folks. And such colorful, crazy people too! Not sure if we'll keep up with it this year as we have in the past,,might depend on what's on against it. How about you? Are you as interested and eager as you were in the past?

Me too!! The live tv with all the commercials is really annoying..think we are hooked on our DVR and the fast forward button! I completely agree, hearing someone with real talent for the first time is lots of fun and kinda exciting. We really like the early stages since it's a roller coaster of amazing talent, raw talent and completely no talent. We'll keep watching for abit at least til Ellen starts and we see how she does. That'll be very interesting too!

I love our DVR too...can't imagine watching tv without it now. It's amazing how many commercials there are ...almost 50% of the show time it seems to me. And being able to pause for our popcorn making and bathroom breaks is key too! I'm like you my favorite part is hearing them for the first time and being amazed at some of the talent! I love to sing and I'm okay but nothing like some of these folks!!

Hi - the first 2 hour show was last night for us here in the USA and it's on again tonight. Victoria Beckham was the guest judge and she was a nice addition and stood up to Simon. She and Simon both being British was an interesting twist since it's an American show with half the judges foreigners.

I think they have guest judges til next month. So Ellen should be starting sometime in February, but I don't know the date yet. Should be very interesting to see how she does and what kind of comments she makes.

Last year i hardly watched because I just needed a break. I did tune in to last night's premiere and I have to say, I think I'm hooked. There were some great singers last night and I already want to see who makes it to the final group :) So I will DVR it, and fast forward it whenever it gets boring! I didn't watch the full 2 hours, I fast forwarded when I could tell that a singer sucked and they were just going to bash them for 5 minutes. While a few of those are interesting, it gets boring after awhile. Kara annoys me, but I'm looking forward to Ellen which is why I will plan to tune in.

I did think it was weird when they choose Ellen and I realize they probably did it purely for entertainment. I guess there aren't many singers out there dying to judge on American Idol! I missed the second episode. I started watching my DVR of it, then got on the phone and by the time I was off the phone I wasn't in the mood so I deleted it. I am more interested once they are all in Hollywood. Maybe 4 hours a week is a bit much!

I agree 4 hours a week is alot which is why we DVR it and skip all the commercials and if someone sounds really awful,,,well they get zipped past too! The try outs are some of my favorite episodes cause ya just don't know who is going to be talented or not. Some of the quiet ones were amazing and some of the loud ones too! I have only heard a few that I'd say were great so far so hopefully there will be more to come that are! It's fun for us to see the first audition and to follow them to the show format and the top 10.. I liked Kara at first but now she really seems just to be trying to hard to be nice...Randy is still Randy which is cool and Simon is kinda Mellow...what's up with that?

I am so like you,,,commercials really annoy me! We hardly watch live tv anymore, gotta love the DVR. We watched both episodes this week and I think we are hooked. I will be just as interested as you to see what kind of judge Ellen is. Tho I wish they had chosen someone with more musical backround or industry knowledge...

Im just as interested and doing Mylot during the commercials! This premiere has started off good so far. I knew the first girl was a no go when I saw her jumping in front of the mirror and using the game. Uh, no. But, you have to admire people for their bravery to go audition. I sing okay, but I know I am not star material so I prefer to stay at home and cheer on the ones who can.

Yes she was abit off key from the get go and it only got worse. I liked how she believed that she could psych herself up and that's cool. We all need to believe in ourself. Boy do I ever admire them for the bravery, I don't think I could do it. I sing okay too but I'd never want to be under that kind of scrutiny.

i watched idol via downloading the show from the internet and I must say Paula Abdul's departure bring a slight change in the judging room. Simon surprisingly was not as grudgingly as usual, in fact he's quite nice this season. first episode disappoints me since i think many contestants that goes to Hollywood week has regular voice and I only remember the curly dude. Btw from her comments, Vic beckham seems to be more interested in fashionwise than singing talent. The Atlanta episode was much more promising though, and shows outstanding talent. I like the dude that sing One Of Us...his voice were so subtle..I expect more talent this season, especially since it's Simon last season. he should leave this show with a great season...

I agree, Simon is almost bordering on Mellow. Kara has started to annoy me since she seems to be trying to be too nice...but not as genuine as Paula was. I miss Paula and wish her well. Randy thank goodness is still the same! The Atlanta crowd did have some wonderful folks, I like the cop that was so low key and had such a great voice! More to come, Good and Bad!!

I watched it last night. Usually, I don't miss an episode of the audition process. It's where the most fun is at. I'm curious of this year's TV audience impact with Ellen as the new judge. I think the talents would never cease to amaze us.

I watched it also last night and this evening there are many wants to audition in American Idol even if they don't have a voice they still want to go for audition. Audition process is entertaining some went for audition are funny, crazy and entertaining. I'm still waiting for the new judge Ellen but I'm also looking forward for the guest judges.

Yes, it is amazing to see just how talented some folks are. There was a cop on last night that blew us away. He came in confident but very low key. And then he started to sing and it was like Wow! He's got some real talent there! And I think all the judges were surprised too. Ya never know if they are going to be good or not till they start so it's fun to watch...And I agree I want to see how Ellen does and what kind of comments she makes. I don't even know if she can see at all,,,does she have a good voice at all??

Oh, I missed last night. I don't know if Ellen can sing either, but basing on what I've seen in her show, she does know how to recognize a true talent, and she's very good at commending people for what they do. Not to mention, she's really funny. I think she'd bring a different flavor on the floor of judges.

I love the audtion part of American Idol because I sit there and laugh my head off. I can't believe how many people think they can sing. How family members will tell these poor people that they have talent when they can't carry a note at all. Then you have a few that shine thru and you can tell have the talent to go on. I will be watching and looking forward to seeing Ellen next month on it. With Simon leaving after this season I believe this may be the last season for the show because it just won't be the same without Simon.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I am laughing so hard but then realize just how clueless the person is to their lack of talent. I think it's kinda cruel sometimes for the family to tell them they are good unless they really believe it. And yes, Simon was a big reason many watched, so it'll be interesting to see the difference without him but they better get someone with some edge or something to spark our interest!

I always watch American Idol, from start to finish. The funny people who wanted to get through, people you saw auditioned and became contestants, people who tried every year are one of those things to catch. There are also a lot to stay tunned for. New judge "Ellen Degeneres" and a new news that Simon will be finishing contract this May. This will be one of the interesting season.

I agree with you it's amazing to see the confidence in some of the contestants grow as their belief in themelves does. And then there's Adam who had enough confidence from the get go. I lived in Boston for many years so it's nice seeing the backrounds abit and hearing the accents that are so New England. Should be an interesting season at least for awhile.
