Hi guys , i am planning to sell some used books on ebay and would like to know if any of you have any ideas for doing that (eg, what should i mention about the book). And is it better to auction it or just fix a price on it?

If the books are of old edition then fixed price is better and if they are new then you can auction. But to better understand which option is better do a research on whether they still have demands in the market. This you can easily do by searching for the same editions on ebay and amazon. See what other sellers' prices are for them. One thing to remember about fixed price is that it must be something that covers the entire shipping cost. This is a tip I got from the Amazon customer service. This makes sure that you make profit from the sellling. Shipping cost is actually quite sensitive. Although ebay has their own price that you have to offer to the buyer, during the real shipping it might become different. This can happen because you have to pay for the stamp according to the weight of the book and distance associated with the buyer's destination. If your books have tears, highlights or scratches it is better to mention it. If possible take a picture of the defected areas. Otherwise, the buyer after getting the book can leave negative feedback for you which will lower your status in the store. Another thing is that if they are textbooks you can provide the course names in the description. This forms a keyword which will be caught by search engines. Consequently, potential buyers will easily find your store page.
