Starbucks Wireless Internet

So apparently Starbucks wireless internet isn't technically free. You must have a Starbucks card with a balance on it. How stupid is that? Pretty much every place that has it gives it away free. When will Starbucks get with the program. I was hoping to go there tomorrow morning to get on the web while I wait till I have to go to classes. But I guess that is out of the question. Are there any places around where you live that aren't giving it away? I wouldn't think so if they actually have it.
