Davao City authorities has been implementing smoking-ban in all public places in the city. Most of the people say's it is good. It's a good way of minimizing air pollution as well as controlling passive smoking. Passive smoking or inhaling a second-hand smoke from smokers is risky in someone's health. As this smoking-ban ordinance is implemented in Davao City, and gain a public recognition, is it righteous enough to implement this in other cities in the Philippines?

Well, if I would have the power to authorized everyone then I would definitely get smoking banned in public places all over the Philippines since it can lessen the pollution that we are experiencing. I hope it would be implemented soon so that we can save life and our mother earth at least we should do it by ourselves first. Smoking has a lot of danger in our health and even to those who never smoke but still inhaled the smoke because of the people who smoke beside them.

It's nice to know that! I'm not a smoker so that is good news to me. I have tried smoking before when I was young out of curiosity and I figured that I will not gain anything positive from it and quit immediately. I also have asthma by the way. It will really help in minimizing air pollution as you have mentioned. I hope this would be implemented in other cities as well including Metro Manila.

Hi varron!
I think this policy have been around for quite sometime now, the real problem is the full implementation of this. Well Davao is known for it's strict implementation of law, remember the no fireworks rule in Davao every New Year's day. I believe that this will be strictly implemented in Davao because of the no way attitude of it's mayor and ruling council (Mayor Duterte).
I just hope that other cities will follow and really make this policy a success for everyone (I know that smokers will contest this but I think they should understand and be responsible in doing their act).
Have a nice day!

I think that is really good ordinance to pave way to a much cleaner city and also to allow the non smokers a breathing space. I think that is already a law nationwide but the implementation is really hard to implement because many still violate and do not get penalized for doing that.

yes, i hate smoking. my also hates smoking. he thinks that smokers are not considerate of other people because of their smoke. so i think banning is good, and promotes health of all people too. both smokers and non smokers.

I think a wide ban of smoking anywhere is good. Stinks for the smokers but hey it helps people who want to quit smoking as a New Year's resolution. Smoking's bad anyway. And its better for health reasons, less people breathing in second-hand smoke.
