I see dead people!

No joke I see dead people. This last day or 2 have been really tough for me. I cant go anywhere or do anything without seeing a bunch of dead people. It makes me nauseous. I see dead people at home. I see dead people at work. I see them everywhere there is a television. Since the Haiti earthquake, thats all I see on TV is dead people. I feel terrible for the island of Haiti and I sympathize with their losses. But DANG, does the media have to keep showing dead people laid out on the sidewalk? Have they no compassion for those that are still alive and just lost loved ones? Last night I was watching and the camera man slowly panned over several bodies and them across to grief-stricken survivors and then to more bodies. I was just sickened by the media's lack of human compassion. I know their job is to cover the news and I know the earthquake was devastating but seriously do they have to cover the news without a shred of human compassion? Do you think the media has any compassion when they cover a story? Do you think the media gives any thought to how they would feel if it were them being filmed after a disaster? Do you think that human suffering should be "human interest"? Are you sick of seeing dead people?

I hate seeing this kind of footage and really the media people are somewhat cold hearted...they are in it for promotion and money so they do what they have to do even if they disregard other peoples feelings...

Hi hexeduser: I agree with you. These way that mass media covers these serious issues makes me sick. They are not even worried about the human beings! they just want that we stay tunned and it's always the same. Thanks for your answer hexeduser. -Alvaro.

Despite agreeing on this one sided opinion of ours, I still would love to hear from media people their opinion about their acts. I hope we get to have a media man here in mylot defend his/her profession

You are a very sensitive person. I am also like that. No, I don't think it is ethical for anyone to expose these victims of calamities or whatever tragedies just like that for everyone to gawk. It is disgusting. I hate how some people get some happiness by looking at others' miseries. I hope this will stop.

I think the footage needed to be seen. At least a little so people could actually see what is happening down there. It is very graphic but it is reality. Children are walking the streets among that horror right now, we're lucky we only see it on TV right now. Personally I have no love for the media and I feel this is not just a news story but a real life crisis. It had to be televised to get people aware now the media should be mobilizing the relief effort instead of just reporting the sad stories though. And no I don't think the media network as a whole gives a hoot. No compassion but those reporters in the midst have no choice but to be touched by what they are witnessing. We all are.

I think it is very hard to understand this situation unless you have been to Haiti and have experienced what these families are experiencing everyday. it hasn't even been a month and is a very tragic event in history. Over 200,000 lives have been lost. Children have lost homes, parents, families, and there is no food or shelter for them. At the same time, it seems like there is an extreme amount of money being donated to Haiti because they didn't have much to start off with and many are being provided with more than they have ever had but it's a new beginning. Many children have been moved to the US for adoption and are hoping to start a new life and be able to move forward. The only thing we can do is pray for these families and hope they have the stregnth to hold on and move forward.

I am, and I also get aggravated when there is a bad accidents and they take pictures of the people laying around or of the horrible mess and put it in the newspaper. That is so wrong. It is already hard on the families and they don't need to see that.

I agree; there should be more sensitivity towards news like this and to focus more coverage news on donations, help around the world and stuff like that.

Media persons are cold. They are only interested in TRP ratings and goo revenue for the firm. In the guise of making people aware of the dimensions of the damage, they do embarrass all those affected. And those not-directly-affected viewers who would sufficiently understand the gravity of the loss without all that drama. In sunning after revenues medis lose sight of human compassion. Yeah I too feel the same way you do.
