Why do we have different yardsticks for members belonging to the family. Why do we protect the guilty? This is the main reason why crime cannot be eradicated. Your views please.

I think that some people do protect the guilty person(s) in their family because they love them. I know that some people protect their guilty because they condone the behavior. When I try to put myself in their place, I would say that if a member of my family did something horrible, like hurt or sexually abuse a child, they wouldn't have to worry about going to jail because I'd kill them myself, I know it may sound horrible, but that's how strongly I feel about this. Families protecting their guilty is IN NO WAY the main reason that crime cannot be eradicated. I believe that the main reason for crime is that alot of people are just plain evil, they have no morals, they just don't care. I wish it were different, but it is what it is: Mean and nasty people, theives, liars, the list could go on and on....are out there in the world, and there isn't anything we can do about it except for making sure that we don't become like them, that we stay honest and good, and help people whenever we can. ( I don't mean help hide the guilty criminals ) Even if one is not a religious person, the Ten Commandments in the Bible is a great set of general life standards for everyone. If we could all just follow those ten simple rules the world would be a much better place for all of us.
