I looked at the children last Sunday and noticed that the youngest son has some gray hairs. I felt quite ill. Then the son that shaves off his hair has a little beard and I had a close look and there were gray hairs in his beard. I kid you not.
So I asked the daughter who is in her mid twenties if she had any gray hairs and she said,'Funny you should mention this as I saw one this morning and yanked it out.'
I wanted them to call Qatar to find out if the first son has gray hairs but they looked at me as if I was losing it.
I don't have gray hairs as they are all covered up as I don't like gray.
But my children having gray hairs? I feel very odd about it all as I never feel old. My children have made me feel old even though I know that it is genetics as my mother was white haired at 25 years old.
Do your children have gray hairs and if they are not old enough what do you think yo will feel when they do go gray?

I got my first one when I was 15 or 16, but Dearra is blond, so maybe she won't get them so early. It's weird enough that my younger siblings are going gray. But I think I have more gray hair than all three of them put together. Still, better the gray hair gene than the nasty aggressive arthritis gene.

You are so right.I do not have arthritis. Well - only a little stiffness in my fingers some days but no pain.

I have a little, but it's tolerable. My mom had pretty terrible arthritis starting in her 30's. I'll take the gray hair, thank you. :-)

The way you feel about yourself often makes you look younger or older depending. Atleast, I've noticed this. Well if you don't feel old, then you must look younger then your children! No, seriously! I wouldn't fret about grey hairs though i think early greying means stressful situations.

I always want to feel young, no matter how old I get, but I know I have way too much stress already.

Hi cynthiann, I've no idea if my son will be genetically inclined to go grey or not as he doesn't take after me in the hair department at all. I'm lucky to still have natural blond hair without a grey in sight, but I take after my father in that. My son though has very dark brown hair so I'll have to see but it won't be for years and years yet.
I can imagine it was a shock for you though to see your children sprouting grey hairs already, just buy them some grecian 2000.

My husband got some to but he wasn't really a hairy man.If e had had hair on his back I would have shaved it of for him. He grew a beard once but I would not kiss him until he shaved it off. Horses for courses!@thea09 (18305)

Thank you Cynthiann, what a lovely thing for you to say. It was funny last night as I noticed for the first time that the Greek is sprouting a few grey chest hairs, his solution, get rid, mine, get rid and find another woman. He's just dying to get rid of it which I think is madness. I'd better not mention the grey again or it will probably all be gone.

Well, you know that both of my children are still very young, so the thought of them having gray hairs at this point in their lives is very, very funny. However, I'm 29-years-old and I've seen a few of them in my hair that I will yank as soon as I see them. Also, my husband, who is 34-years-old doesn't have any gray hairs in his head but he does have more than his fair share of gray hairs in his facial hair. I also have a cousin who has had gray hairs in his head since he was 19-years-old.

You are so funny.... My daughter has a strip of gray hair behind her ear and I mean a strip of gray. She has had it for years. When she was toddler, she had to have surgery on her ear. The strip of gray is where the hair follicles were damaged do to where they cut to access her ear, thus causing the gray hair. I, my self started getting gray hair in my early twenties. One here , one here. I have a very thick head of hair so Its been easy to hide them. Lately, not so much. I tease my kids about giving them to me by the stupid things they do.
I had a girl friend in high school who had a strip of gray down the center of her head, there wasn't anything she could do about it but dye it her natural color.

I can understand why your daughter has that strip and it probably looks good.Thank God I also got my mother's genes by having very thick straight hair. I am a stupid old cow about my hair. It is the same as my avi only a bit longer and browner with some blond streaks. o put 40 years on my avi and it is me right to the same shaped glasses.

My son is a bit young to have gray hairs. I am 31 and dont' have any yet, but people in my family go gray later. My husband was 22 when I met him and he already had a few gray hairs, now at almost 30 if he doesn't cut his fairly every 2 weeks, they really show up. even his younger siblings have gray hairs.

You're so funny. Well, as you know I am missing half of my hair because of illness. Of the hair I have left, none of it is gray or silver. I'll turn 29 on March 1st, so maybe I'll be able to report gray hairs sometime soon. My sister turns 31 on February 1st, and she doesn't have gray hair. However, sometimes one might think she does. She has light brown hair, but there is like a white blonde kind of shade in streaks, and if you don't know for sure, you'd think it was silver. She doesn't color her hair, it's always been like that.@cynthiann (18612)

Well not my children but me. I have grey hairs at age 32. My boyfriend just saw them two weeks ago and said 'but Thea, you have grey hairs' and replied, 'Yes. I've had greys since somewnere in my twenties.'
They are just increasing a bit now. I maybe have six of them now. I do not feel old at all as I inherited genes which makes me look yonger than I am. the greys I'll just sport as style (honestly there's nothing else I can do as Im not gonna dye them to hide them. Thats too much stress). I just have to accept and joke about the greys as life passes them on to me.
I hope your kids do not feel old because of their greys Cynthie.

I'm still getting used to the fact that I have gray hairs, and a lot of them! I'll be 30 in a couple months, but my grays started showing a few years ago. They weren't too bad at first, but as the days go by I find more and more of them. I had to color my hair not long ago because there were just too many showing!
My husband is getting them too, but like your son, he shaves his head, so they aren't noticable. But I can still notice a few in his beard.

I now that you probably have the product that will cover the roots only and it is cheaper than the regular hair dye. I am frantically trying to stock up on my colour as I know that it will be not imported much longer in the country as they will stop mzny imported goods as we do not have the US dollars to pay for them. Anywhere I see my colour then I just put it on my credit card. It just makes me feel old!!!

I am 29, and thankfully I've yet to find a grey hair. I feel I will be blessed with having good hair genetics as my mom is 71 and has just now started to gray. Most of her friends started at 50, and they kept telling her she colored her hair, but she's never once put hair dye on it. She's been one of the lucky ones. My husband who is 35, has a good handful on his head and another good handful threw out his goatee...

I guess this has something to do also with genes. Both my mother and father don't have a lot of gray hair. My mother had her first gray hair in her mid- forties. I'm already 27 and I still don't have one. My hubby though who is of my same age has a lot of gray hair. He would sometimes joke that it's because I give him a lot of troubles and headaches. hahaha! This I know is not true since he already has a lot of gray hair ever since the day I first met him. My child is just 3 months old so I don't know if he'll get my genes or his father's. But whatever happens I don't really care that much if he's going to have a gray hair at a young age as long as he will stay healthy and will not give me a lot of gray hairs. hahaha!

Yes, you are so right - it is genetic. But it made me feel quite old. My hair is the same as my avi.I keep it a lightish brown with blonde streaks. Actually I look a lot like my avi with the same hair style and glasses.

I also have quite a few gray hairs. I think this is hereditary. Some family members had premature graying of hair, and so my aunt had her gray hair when she was in Grade 4, my cousin who is only 25 years old also has gray hair. I think it is really in the genes.

hi cynthiann I am elderly already but really feel my age when'
my fifty year old son has some grey hairs in his beard, his hair is still dark though and curly which he so detests. I wish my white hair had his curls. lol lol lol. nobody ever appreciates what they do have. I had turned light blonde by age 40 so no wonder I am now white blonde.he he.
