Today when i opened the inbox on my YAHOO, I was shocked to see a mail in my inbox, sent from the same mail id in which i was looking. I think i am confusing here. Let me be elaborate. My mail id is say for example wxyz@yahoo.co.in means, When i opened the mail box of the above mail id, i saw a mail sent by someone with the tinyurl link, from the same mail id ie, wxyz@yahoo.co.in I am definitely sure that i have not sent any mail like that to myself. How is it possible? Does this mean that my password has been decoded by that person? Or is there any chance of some spyware creeping in to my system unknowingly?Kindly please explain if you have any idea? Regards Saivenkat

What is being described is called "spoofing". Read my description below. "Phishing" is where an email prompts one to enter personal details (such as a bank account number and password) on a false website or asks one to send bank details in order, perhaps, to claim a large amount of (fictitious) money.

I get those type of e-mails all of the time. Quite often I simply delete them. Spammers love to do that because they think the user will see their own adress and read the mail thinking it was something they sent themselves. Thease e-mails are harmless and can safely be deleted. However, it is recommended you don't open them especially if they contain attachments because those attachments could actually contain a virous. Most e-mail programs such as yahoo try to scan for those, but nothing is perfect. Just delete the e-mail and don't open it.

I don't think someone has got your password it is a fake mail .Someone has changed 'from' to your email id and send to you.It may be someone you know.May we can find the real address by checking the coming mail's header .If you send mail to yourself the subject is me: not anything else is in't it.
