i was told that you cannot use your laptop or your note book with the battery on and at the same time plug it with the power cord. because it has been likened to a cellular phone that one cannot use it if you are connected to an electric source. i actually detach my battery when i use the power cord. how do you take care of your notebook or laptop? do you detach the battery if you use the power cord?

If your laptop is reasonably new and runs on Li-On type battery there is no need to do this older laptops suffered from the battery memory effect, this is only seen in a few batteries where they lose the ability to hold charge by not being fully discharged before being again charged from the mains

I used to do that too but I heard that Windows 7 takes care of that now so I stoped detaching my battery now. I'm not sure how that works but I'm assuming that Windows can detect if you are connected to a power source and have the battery attached so it.. well, kinda makes sure that the battery doesn't get used.
