My Cat Likes Story Time!

We got a new cat about a month ago. Each night my daughter and I have story time. She reads a page and then I read a page until we finish either a short book or a long chapter. By the second week of being in his new home, our cat, Smokey Bones, decided he liked story time. Since he became instant pack leader upon moving in, the cat sparked our dog's interest in our together time. Now every night, the cat crawls into my lap without purring and snuggles down to listen. The dog climbs up beside my daughter and lays his head on her lap. Together, the four of us enjoy Story Time. Exactly two sentences (no matter what size the book or chapter)before the end of the story, the cat stretches and hops down to go outside for a stroll. The dog joins him and my daughter and I finish reading. Does your pet do anything you consider special time with you?

He is. He's the first Story Time Cat, the first cat I've ever had to let 'go for a walk' several times a day, just like I do the dog, the second only cat that obeys me, no matter what I ask him to do, and my absolute first long-haired beauty. He's Mister Personality Plus and he fits perfectly with my Scottish terrier, who adores the feline freshman.

A cat obeys you? I've got some that might - if they feel like it. Now, The Doctor would come if I called him, especially if I called him a certain way - "Doc-a-tor!" because he knew that I just wanted to see him. He might just walk along the sidewalk to let me see him, but most of the time, he came on in because he had already interrupted whatever it was he was doing before...

That is such a cute story! I can just picture this too, and I think you should have someone take a picture of the four of you. Just adorable! My kitty loves to sit on my lap while I'm on the computer, and she keeps moving my hand away from the mouse. Then she rubs her face all over the mousepad and pushes the mouse in the drawer. I think she wants the mouse to know who's the boss, haha. So I guess you can say I have "Computer Time" instead of story time, it's me, Kashmere, and the mouse, hahaha!

Wow! 27 years old for a cat is amazing, and you sure were very privileged to have him all that time. Sounds to me that it was passed down and it's good to hear you're writing stories again. Do you write them and publish them? What kind do you write?

Hmmm, maybe that's why they go outside at the end of each story! Never thought about my pets having their own book club!

My cat Precious will join me if I decide to lie down during the day for any reason. He acts like I've been gone for years when in reality I'm right around. No matter where he is, if I look like I'm going to lie down Precious is right there beside me, pinning me in most of the time.

He pins you in - the better to make sure you stay put, my dear! Give a cat a sofa cushion, he'll take over the sofa and you, too! Way to go, Kitty Precious.
