Do you celebrate Lent?

For starters, there might be some that does not know what Lent is, I am not going to bother with a lesson, just google "LENT". Lent is coming up and I am wondering how many of you here on myLot are celebrating it? What sorts of things are you giving up? I do not celebrate the 40 days, but many of my friends do and it is common to give up red meats. [I work at Long John Silvers 'fish', and we are way preparing for all the business so I guess many people give up red meat]

I am Catholic and observe Lent. I usually give up dessert. I never lose any weight though. I get the same amount of calories from different food. I also don't eat meat on Fridays. I don't like fish so I have a hard time on Fridays finding something to eat.

I think it is good to give up something you really love to find out how much we take things for granted. Hope you are able to find something for Fridays this year :)

I didn't realize how close lent was till I read your discussion. I have to eat as many desserts as I can now to make up for the times I won't be able to have them. I can always have grilled cheese on Fridays.

Hi chelsgrrl69. It is not much celebrating, but observing. My son goes to a catholic school, so they do observe it. And I prepare his lunches, so I have a hard time Thursday nights because I can't pack him any meat for the following day. As for me, I do try observe Lent and meat-less Fridays. But sometimes I just can't help it. And I don't give it too much thought.

Thanks for the correction. Like I stated before, I do not know much about Lent, so was curious what you all here on myLot had to say. I learn something new everyday :)
