What is Happening to Values?

Moral values have been relegated to the background as evil keeps increasing at an alarming rate. Things like intergrity, honesty, chastity, discipline, proper behaviour and respect for elders no longer count in mostplaces. What happened to these values? Is it negligence on the part of parents, guardians and tutors or is ti the mordern technological revolution that has made things easier? What should be done to restore these values?

I believe if we make an effort to really study what the bible says, we can be able to restore these values individually. I agree that it is negligence on the part of parents and guardians primarily - they fail because they haven't been taught themselves, and/or there is a lack of real caring or tough love.

I like your response. The bible, I think is the best way to restore those values.

Values change and evolve. Like a pendulum swinging from one extreme to the other, we are in a period of extremes in values. I believe ethical behavior will always assert itself because most humans are decent and understand the survival value of that kind of action.

Thank you. Yeah, values change and evolve. I just hope that good values don't get completely extinct. It could really be disastrous.

It is the fault of the parents entirely. At the end you pick up all your values and morals from the family where you grew up. If they can't teach you any manners as a child you'll never likely to pick it up yourself later in life. Parents use the television as babysitting facilities and that doesn't help either.

Thank you for your response. I agree with you that parents sometimes are responsible. What do you expect a baby to learn when you leave him before the TV other than viloence and obscenities. Parent should turn a new leaf and teach their kids values that would help them in life. Kudos.
