Do You Think The Quality Of Denim Has Gone Down?

This is regardless of where the denim comes from...at least in the UK..but the only jeans I can buy nowadays that are any good are the Per Una jeans (with elastane) in Marks & Spencer. The latest pair, in particular, are extremely comfortable but fashionable at the same time, so I am pleased with them. However, what is your opinion of so-called "branded" jeans? I am particularly interested to know if Levi's (as an example) are made in the US or have they always been made in other countries? Are they the same quality as - say - 10 to 15 years ago? I possess a denim jacket (unbranded), it wasn't cheap at the time but I can't see the difference between the dearer denim and the cheaper denim, you see what I mean? Does anyone pay a fortune for Designer Jeans? If so, why? Are they a better fit, I'd love to know! My favourite pair of jeans were called F.U.'s and they were awesome. I probably paid about £25 for them and that was way back in the mid 1980s! I had them for months and the more I wore them the better they got. In my opinion, denim jeans aren't like that anymore. For a start, the zips are pathetic compared to those days! What do you think?

I have worn out many a pair of jeans in my time. There was a time where Levi's and Wranglers were made in the U.S. but I think they've all been sent overseas now. I don't like jeans with stretch, the stretchy stuff makes me itch - I have a lot of allergies so... I am currently wearing jeans from the Avenue - larger woman's clothing store. They have worn very well, and even as I am losing some weight, they still don't look to bad - of course, I won't be fashionable until I'm closer to 140 lbs than I am now - what's that? 10 stone? I'm over 14 stone now (whip out my trusty calculator...) I'd really like to get down to 8 stone, but I'm not holding my breath...

Thanks for your comment about the Avenue store. I learn something new every day on this site and Avenue is something I'd not heard of before. I bought a bag from Maceys in Las Vegas and I was impressed with that store. I have also noticed how polite the Americans are and they have a rapport with the Brits which is great! I don't know how much I weigh...probably the same as you. To be honest, I'd be quite happy just to lose a few pounds rather than loads. We shall see what my blood test on Monday tells me!
