Oh God! Help me to talk!

Hi friends, I just took up a job. My new job requires a lot talking to people on the phone and meeting people. All my life I studied English and even with my friends I speak English. In my job however, I have to speak the local language that I am not so fluent with. I find myself stuttering and stammering and that puts me in a sticky situation. My boss and colleagues are helping me a lot to get over this problem, but still I feel very lost and disappointed. I feel scared all the time that I may have to give up my job if I do not improve soon. What should I do? Should I hang on in this situation, and for how long?

Few things worth while in life come easy. The more you do something the easier it gets. You can't quit now. If you have to speak, plan ahead of time for all the possible questions and answers. Have your translations memorized.

I know you are not the kind to give up so easily. I do not know what the language is, you are using, but maybe it will help if you get some books or magazines on this language. You will make it, just give it time. Rome wasn,t build in one day. Good luck.

I understand how you feel towards this situation. But, if I were you, I won't give up. I will continue to work hard in order to prove to myself that I can things by my own. If we are interested in what we are doing, there is no reason for you not to learn on how to do it. There are really some instances wherein you have to face a lot of difficulties at first. But I guess the feeling will be great after successfully doing the things you never thought you wouldn't learn before.
