what is a scam

..is it any program that didn't make you a million dollars overnight without any effort on the part of the member? i thought a scam was anything illegal, or made you give up your money with nothing in exchange, though expected. don't get me wrong. there are these kinds of scams out there. anyone working online or trying to work online can tell you that. on the other hand, you can't say that something is scam if you haven't even tried to work the program. now, if you are paying money, i understand the concern. if i spend money on a program, i would get antsy if i don't see any return on my investment to say the least. a free program, however is free. i at least give a program a 1-2 months (depending on the program), before i just throw it in the scam category. this is unless i find out beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is a scam before hand. i am at least going to do my own research and investigation, as well as listen to others. the best way to do my own research about a company is to try it out. not just sign up for it, and expect to see millions in 9 sections flat! i am going to read the faqs, and terms of service. if i have any problems, i will go to help desk and write support tickets. i will also give them a reasonable amount of time to respond and help clear up my problemi will go to forums provided by the company, and ask questions there. i will verify if there is a proof of payment section for the website. all this i will do before i call things a scam. especially if it is a free program! omg! what is there to loose. i am anti scam too, but i think this obession and paranoia is getting out of controll. it's very limiting, too. i'm so sick and tired of people quick to lable things a scam without any REAL information, first. in that case, everything is a scam.. including mylot, but it's not.
