Is it Ok? Question about paypal, ebay and safe.

January 17, 2010 10:58pm CST
Hi, there. I am selling some goods recently by posting on a UK forum. A buyer decided to buy my goods yesterday. Then I told her i will list it for her on Ebay and asked to pay by paypal on Ebay, so that it will be safer for each other. But then she didnot reply me anymore. I don't know why, am i right to ask her to do so? Besides, we all know that buyer will send money to seller first before seller dispatch goods on ebay, which is good for seller. While Ebay will hold the money till the buyer get the goods, which is good for buyer. So, if pay by paypal but not on ebay, will paypal hold the money for buyer and seller? Will it bring seller risk? Hope to get help and advices from you. many thanks

Ok...I'm confused. If you already have a buyer interested in your item why list it on eBay and pay them fees? And if you get payment thru Paypal, you'll pay them fees too. What method did she have in mind for paying you, buyers are always paid first then ship items and so the onus is on the seller to ship the goods which isn't really different if you sold to her directly. You might want to recontact her again and let her know that you changed your mind and will sell direct to her if you can work out the payment details. Good Luck!!!

yes,it will pay extra fee on eBay. But sometimes, buyer like to be safer, and eBay protect buyer more , That is why i offer a method of payment on eBay. Anyway, thanks for your advice. good day. Ben

I see what you mean, many buyers do like buying on eBay but for you it's not such a good deal to pay them and paypal just to make one sale where you already have some interested. Good Luck with your sales and remember to think of your own best interests too! If you use eBay, you will have to ship it insured and with delivery tracking which can add up. If you don't then the buyer can claim non receipt and Paypal will take your money even if you can prove you sent it. Online delivery tracking and insurance are now required by both the sites. I have been selling on eBay and using Paypal for years so if you have questions, just let me know! I'll likely have the answer! Be Well!!

well, i thought that you didnt need use ebay to sell your item which meet with buyer on a forum. i am a member of digitalpoint forum. i use paypal for trade. but remember, you must save and have a good point when paypal limited you or your buyer cheat you. example: i had a buyer asking some stuff to send to his place. i send him an invoice from paypal and then he pay it with paypal too. but when the stuff is sent, the buyer open a dispute on paypal and he said that the stuff is never recieve. WTF? i have sent it ! and then i talk with paypal staff on that disput board, i show the tracking number and the scan paper of the delivery to paypal staff, and then i am become the winner of that case ;) remember, paypal is good friend for good people :) just dont worry ;)

If you already promised her that you would sell them items to her then you need to live up to your promise. What I would do is re-email her and tell her that you will accept a money order for payment. This is safe because in order for one to purchase a money order they must pay cash for one. I have used money orders plenty of times and know this for a fact. With ebay and paypal there are fees associated and why pay extra money yourself if someone wants the items already.
