hi there people, the price of computers lower every day, i think that this problem is due to the continuous renewal of the computer technology and so a new computer the day after become old and so the price become lower than before, also new technology are cheaper and i don't know the real reason. And what about you? what do you think about it? do you think that is a good thing the lower price of computer technology? Thank you for your responses :)

For me its because of competitions. There are lots of computer manufactures for hardware's and other computer peripherals. That is why they sell it on a lower price to get the big pie on the market share.

Yes it is because of competitions. I think it is also because of recession some computer parts manufacturing are bankrupt. Like Intel here in the Philippines they are affected of the crisis. Even if they already lowering their prices many people still affected by recession so they don't spend much in buying new computers.

It's like buying a new car, drive it around the block and you loose $5,000 in value. Personal pride helps to create this market. We have had our old computer for a number of years and just update it every year or two. We just don't need all the bells and whistles.

Well, I think the lowering of prices is definitely good for all of us consumers. Of course there are a lot of reasons for this lowering. One of which is what you have mentioned.. new technologies are developed almost everyday. Aside from these many companies are producing different models and the more the supply the lower the price. That is the advantage of the competition.

this is something expected that is why when it comes to computers it is best to settle for the cheapest of the ones that has brand names. i mean quality would be there, right? as for getting your money's worth anyone with a mere background in making the most out of your money would advice you that the only purchases worth doing if accumulating money in the long run is what one is after would suggest either: land, jewelry or painting...

computers price become low everyday as the manufacturing price drops. also when the company first launches a product the investments are high, so they need to recover their money and they do so by increasing the overall price of the product..as the product sells well, the company lowers the price again.

I think it has something to do with Moore's Law where every two years the processing power of computers double but you buy them at the same price two years ago. Most of them are forced to sell the older tech before they depreciate too much and become too slow for daily applications. If you check at certain times of the year (usually before nw stuff comes out) the prices will drop quite a lot to sell them out but in reality it can drop even further in a few months. Unless the raw materials (and workmanship) become too expensive, computers will be cheaper every year. I heard there are some people who speculate that in 20 years time, US brands will lose out to other countries but only time will tell.

I actually learned about this in my business class. There is a cycle that that everythng goes through. It has to do with demand. As a technology goes older such as a TV, it is made easier for everyone to buy.At first only a select few have it but as society sees a need for it, the price gets lower. I would really need to look it up again to explain it better.

Why is it a problem? Isn't it wonderful that, if you wait for a few months, you can get the electronic item you wanted which was priced at lets say $300, for a mere $100? If you're talking about personally-owned electronics losing value, anything and everything, except things that have vintage value, lose some of their worth the moment they're bought and used. Everything, not just electronics, the same goes for vehicles and other machines. Things like vintage clocks and similar instead gain value, because their value is dependant on how old they are, not their functionality. Personally, I think tearing an old -sometimes unusable- computer apart and selling the hardware inside separately would get you more money than selling it as a whole, because often some parts still work perfectly well but they are being dragged down in value by busted and unusable parts when they're sold as a package.

It is because of Free Market Capitalism! The government doe snot interfere with the market in this area too much. Now if we could apply the same principles to healthcare, education, food, and such!

I think, it's having many brands with the similar function. So the only way to beat the competitors is to be the cost leader so that's the reason the computer is getting cheaper. And I think because of the new technology is coming so that they have to sell out all the old stock. Just like the intel inside, I think people are not looking for pentium4 when they want to upgrade or buy a computer anymore.

This is the age of new innovation and information technology. Before the just improved technology is sold out, another newer and more improved one is brought in the market. As a result, it becomes the headache of the vendor to clear out the older ones. That's why they hurry in selling them to clear out at lower prices to possess the market for the new ones.

it's expected at the rate technology is advancing. Computers keeps getting faster so that literally leaves the previous discoveries obsolete. Now merchants are forced to sell those old models at a cheap price to gain profit since chances are a new discovery is just a few days away. And i think, those that benefit from these are the consumers since each and everyone will have a wide variety options. To those who can afford to those who are on a budget. Just imagine how much the price of a Pentium 4 processor before as it is now a days. It's totally a bargain.

Hi codris, You're right, the price of computers go lower day by day. It may sound good for us. There are lots of reasons for this; first of all production companies uses advanced technologies to produce higher volume of computers in cheap cost. Secondly, the market of computer is very vast which gives high profit to production companies. Companies shares technologies from other companies which is also a crucial fact for this. Have a wonderful day.

its normal. whats hot today is outdated tomorrow. at first production cost is high so prices are high..as production prices fall and people buy more and more, manufacturers keep a specific % of profit and this slashes the prices rapidly. and as new products are made, and manufacturer has a lot of old products in stock, he even lowers his profit % and sells it..thats the core concept on falling of prices

And I love it too!!! there's a laptop that is just about the right price for me and I'd love to get it but cannot. So to me, I love it that the prices are coming down each day that means better for me. But it seems to me once a laptop or computer goes down in price, the better it is for those to get it.

Absolutely it is a good thing, and this happens with every new technology. You may be too young to remember when calculators cost a lot to buy and now they are in the dollar stores.

Because now the computer business has become more and more, causing the computer profits falling,a few years ago,the most not so expensive.
