don't feel bad. I don't really get the difference either. I want to get my husband one for his birthday but I'm not sure which one to go with. Hopefully you'll get some good answers in this discussion so i know. Its either that or I save up the money and just let him pick. I think that one last a little longer than the other and has better color or something like that. I think lcd maybe is better, but i'm not sure. I think everyone has a different preference.

Those kind of tv's are different because they use different technologies. The basic difference for the end user is that plasma should have a better contrast but probably has a shorter life span. Another problem with plasma tv is that they are subject to burn in process (i.e. a frequently displayed image such as a menu or something like that can leave a ghost image even when it shouldn't be displayed. Lcd uses liquid crystals while plasma tv's use phosphor emission stimulated by uv radiation emitted by ionized noble gases. I don't know the details of how that technology exactly works, but i will probably be searching some information on the internet about. Asa much as i know a lcd led technology has solved much of the contrast problem of lcd's, so as of today i don't see many good reasons to buy plasma tv, since plasmas are also much more energy intensive than lcds.

LCD: It's nothing but liquid crystal display(LCD),the light than the CRT TV's,better picture clarity comparing the CRT, the technology is developed with the help of liquid crystal, this is called LCD . LED: plasma TV creates the picture from the glass filled with xenon and neon atoms and millions of electrically charged atoms and electrons, the collide when you turn the power on .plasma TV requiring the excellent picture quality and quite expensive and faster than the popular choice of HDTV.
