Yesterday on the way home, I felt this pain in my throat. It felt like a hard sore lump in one corner of my throat. I dropped by a chinese medical shop and wanted to buy my usual pipakao, which is like a sore throat lotion / syrup. the shop assistant recommended me another syrup which he said would work better. Since the price differential was not significant, I decided to give it a try. It has a nice herbal minty flavour, and works somewhat. I took two strepsils lozanges before sleeping but my throat still felt inflammed in the middle of the night. I also started drinking lots of water but that doens't seem to be helping much. I think this is probably the onset of the common flu again. I am wondering whether I should see the doctor today, or whether i should wait another day to see if the symptoms disappear, or get worse. argh i hate falling sick.

Keep checking your temperature hourly if possible. If you have a high fever then yes, go see your doctor. If you are not running a high fever then seeing your doctor probably won't help you much. Strep throat usually follows along with a fever. Your throat might be hurting because of congestion drainage. If you limp nodes start to swell in your neck/throat area then go to the doctor quickly, could be an infection. You might need to buy some throat spray and gargle with warm salt water. Warm salt water will soothe your throat a bit and keep it clean. Drink some hot peppermint herbal tea as much as possible, it's good that your drinking a lot of water- keep it up . Drinking warm apple juice helps some also.Hot chicken noodle soup works wonders for colds and flu's also. For pain take ibuprofen and get some rest, sleeping is one of the best things you can do when your feeling ill, it maybe hard for you to sleep because of your pain , just take ibuprofen before you lay down, that will help relax you.. The syrups really won't do much for your sore throat if you are not having coughs or chest congestion . lozenges are good, they soothe the throat a bit... I hope this helps some. I go threw this type of stuff often.

I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I started getting sick just after Christmas and I was sick for about a week before i finally went to the doctor. I was sick for a total of about 2 1/2 weeks. I am sure if I had gone to the doctor when I was first starting to get sick like you are now I would not have been sick as long as I was. I would recommend you go see a doctor as soon as you can before you get really sick.

NObody likes to fall sick, including me!! lol =D When it comes to flu, i hate it most too!! It not only affects our nose, but cough and fever will come shortly after if we dun take care of ourself at the start of it, with some symptoms.. hehe ^_^ I guess, what u can do is to drink more water, and do more exercises.. haha =D Though it's not recommended by most ple, but it's gonna help in some way or other.. That works for me though, as those virus are gotten rid out of my body in the form of sweat, and after which i will recover the next day.. hehe

The sooner you see your doctor the sooner you can get medication! I think you're doing some great things to try to prevent illness like drinking lots of fluids and already taking some medications. I hope you feel better soon!!

I think you should see a doctor so you'll know what is wrong. Sometimes, a little negligence result in a bigger problem. Strep throat can cause a lot of problems too. It can cause rheumatic heart, can damage kidneys. I am not saying it is strep throat but it's best to consult a doctor so you can have the proper medications. But I hope it's just the ordinary flu. Get well.

squaretile I would indeed see your doctor as you might have a strept throat and that does need antibiotics while flu usually does not take antibiotics. so see your doctor as strep infections are notoriously hard on your whole body plus being so very painful also.Try ice water to stop the pain until you can see your doctor. I had a strept throat and that was the only thing that would stop the pain until the antibiotics started to work which took about a week.
