are financial planners/relationship managers just salespersons???

we all have been troubled by the calls from insurance , mutual fund companies to buy into their products... they always send a financial planner to help us out....and more often than not the financial planner is the person who himself needs some financial planning.... so what is he going to do with your money... NOTHING...!!! he is just there to sell you the product... he would not tell you certain facts which might discourage you from buying into the product... naive investors often fall prey to them.... i did fall prey to this kind of mis-selling during my early days.... have you ever fallen prey to this kind of aggressive selling and ending up buying a bad insurance product?? or any financial product????
