It pays to have connections

I am a game master at an online game (Mu) that my girlfriend and I are playing, and tomorrow is her birthday. I have managed to convince the admin to give her a donation set (that's means it is the kind that has more options that can't be obtained other then by paying for it) of a 30$ value. This is a very unique gift as neither one of us would spend real money on an online game, so i think she will be really happy and excited about it.
I think it pays to have connections and that was just an example. Having connections in the medical domain will surely help you get treated faster, if they are good enough, and having police or army friends with power might get you out of other troubles.
I guess it's always good to have connections in various domains. What do you think about it ? Did you ever managed to make a special gift with the help of your connections ?

Your GF must be very lucky and overjoyed getting a special gift through your connections. In today's world we have to be a social being to have connections to get what we want and to be where we are in life. Paper qualifications alone will not guarantee a placement in jobs that one apply as it is very competitive to get in to any employment nowadays. You have to have connections to get shortlisted or probably get the job applied. It goes the same way with Government contracts, some contractors goes through the back door, meaning you need to have connections inside to get the job. It is good to socialize and get to know more people to get contacts. It helps to get the right connections.

You are a good boyfriend, very thoughtful and considerate and your idea of the gift for your girlfriend is a great one and she will love it! It is a bonus to have the connections you need at the right time! I don’t have any really good connections except my next door neighbour is a mechanic and that has come in handy once or twice!

I have never had those kind of connections but I think it's sweet that you used your connections to get your girlfriend something that she will be thrilled with. 
And it's also a frugal gift!!

u are such a thoughtful young man. I hope your girlfriend appreciates u as she should. U are right it's good to have connections in this ol' world. I don't recall ever using them to give a gift.
