My desktop computer is more than 6 years old now, still it keeps on working. It seems that it doesn't want to retire. But over the years I've replaced some of its part that has given up. Here are some of the parts I've added, removed or changed with a new one: 1. Mouse 2. Power supply (replaced) 3. Memory replaced) 4. Floppy disk drive (replaced and removed) 5. CD-ROM (replaced with a DVD writer) 6. USB PCI internal card (added) I plan to make more changes. How about yours? Does it show signs of retiring?

Creepy and quite expensive. You really must have spent much on this month on your computer than on your birthday and valentine's date.

What's the brand of your PC or did you build it yourself?

Aaah, the reverse-order nature of email... de ja vu, in terms of question and response... My computer, is like an old diesel truck--sounds like one too, pretty reliable, but you just wonder when it'll go.

my computer is already 7 years old and i have upgraded it a number of times already but most of the time the mouse would breakdown maybe because of normal usage.but it hasn't failed me not even once.i think it also depends on how you use your computer which make it last.of course you dont use it overnight without turning it off.

Maintenance is really important, for computers to function as if brand new and to last longer. You must be doing a really good maintenance, making it a routine, that's why your computer is already 7 years old and I hope you would keep counting its age. Other than installing utility software, one must also clean the CPU every now and then: remove the dust, cobweb, and fix the wiring. Don't let your computer accumulate dust; cover it with a cloth or something. These are my routines in making my computer in good shape.

thanks, have maintained it very well i think.the secret there is always clean the fans inside your computer so it will not overheat while using it.you see accumulated dust will lessen the cooling ability of fans inside your computer which eventually will result to overheated components inside your computer and thats where problems will start to breakout. god bless!

I have a desktop and a laptop. The desktop is several years old, and I have replaced the video card, power supply, and dvd rom. Other that that, everything else is original. My laptop is brand now, so I don't have to change anything in it as of yet. I really don't use the desktop, except as a server, as I use the laptop to do do things online. I like the laptop better than the desktop. It is much more convenient and I can take it with me if I want to, but the desktop, I can't. I guess you could say it is it sturdy, at least for now, and so is the desktop. I am the only one that uses my computer so if anything happens, then I don't have anyone to blame but myself. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I could understand why you favor your laptop than the desktop. The portability of laptop is of course the key reason for its success and popularity. When I borrow my cousin's laptop, I use it more often than my desktop; sad to say, I returned his laptop already, and I'm back with my loyal and very sturdy desktop. Good for you that your the sole user and owner of the laptop and the desktop. Because of that, I suppose your gadgets will last longer. Sharing it to someone increases the possibility of acquiring damage on the device and the system. Take care of your computer and I hope they stay with through thick and thin!

hello, katkat! i've got one hp business notebook. believe it or not, it fell off its soft bag a few times. my luggage back fell off the bus about two times and it fell while inside its bag many times. fortunately, it's still working and soon to be 3 years old. its adaptor has been changed because my friend folded the chord so badly. it was still covered in the warranty then so i haven't got any other hardware problems after that. i just had it reformatted last time due to the virus it got. i can say that this one's sturdy enough. happy mylotting!

I think your hp is strong enough to withstand such unfortunate event. It's your notebook's adaptor that lacks sturdiness; thus, you really should take care of this peripheral and most important--your hp notebook. May your notebook stand the test of time and accident.
