Hi clrumfelt.
What you are referring to occurs not in 21 and 22 but 31 and 32. Easy typo. I do that quite frequently.
So we have the passage for all readers, here it is some of its context:
22 ¶ Then was brought to him a demoniac, blind and dumb, and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, ‘Is this the Son of David?’ 24 but the Pharisees having heard, said, ‘This one doth not cast out demons, except by Beelzeboul, ruler of the demons.’ 25 And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them, ‘Every kingdom having been divided against itself is desolated, and no city or house having been divided against itself, doth stand, 26 and if the Adversary doth cast out the Adversary, against himself he was divided, how then doth his kingdom stand? 27 ‘And if I, by Beelzeboul, do cast out the demons, your sons—by whom do they cast out? because of this they—they shall be your judges. 28 ‘But if I, by the Spirit of God, do cast out the demons, then come already unto you did the reign of God. 29 ‘Or how is one able to go into the house of the strong man, and to plunder his goods, if first he may not bind the strong man? and then his house he will plunder. 30 ‘He who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me, doth scatter. 31 Because of this I say to you, all sin and evil speaking shall be forgiven to men, but the evil speaking of the Spirit shall not be forgiven to men. 32 And whoever may speak a word against the Son of Man it shall be forgiven to him, but whoever may speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, nor in that which is coming.
Close to what is being said here is found in Hebrews 6...
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
Many of us feel that the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is when a true Christian who had participated in the gifts and the operations of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor. 12) turns completely away from Christ to the point where as Christ mentions they speak against these things.
Notice the phrase in Hebrews states- impossible...to renew them again to repentance. They put themselves in a condition where they cannot sense, hear, feel the Holy Spirit convict them to return to Christ. However, this passage also gives a glimmer of hope, viz., "...nigh unto cursing." So, banking on the mercy of God, it would seem to me, and others, if such a one would change their attitude and cease speaking against the things of the Holy Spirit, there would be hope that they would later be able to sense the convicting power of God.

Your very detailed teaching has put that subject into perspective for me. Thanks.
